Next year, Magglio Ordonez's salary rises from $6.5 million to $10 million; Keith Foulke's from $4 million to $6 million; Carlos Lee's from $2.7 million to $4.2 million; and Bob Howry's from $1.2 million to $3.2 million. That's $9 million in raises to four players. Add in Frank Thomas ($10.3 million), Jose Valentin ($5 million) and Paul Konerko, who could double his $3.8 million salary in arbitration, and the Sox are looking at paying $47 million for seven players.
