Baseball is so much more fun when you're not level headed at all.

Great game for the sox. Would like to see better execution with RISP but a win is a win and we're in first by a game. The tigers seem destined to be that team that comes close but never crosses the line this year.

Whew. Glad they got that one.

Thorton now makes me way too nervous.

Hawk sounded like someone kicked his dog most of this game.

Glad to see Dunn back. And man, someone tell Youk to take it easy on that knee. The Sox are going to need you big man!!!

They got a few runs early and it took the pressure off a touch.

Santiago gave them everything they could want, going into the 6th inning. I think he's a possibility for the rotation next year.

Veal by the way hasn't allowed a hit to a left hander this season. Granted it's only 17 at bats but that's something to watch. Thornton might become expendable.

Keep the mustaches!Agreed. The mustaches clearly lead us to this win, and it was just Konerko, Youk and Myers participating. If we got the entire team to grow staches, we would theoretically be unbeatable.

Nice win, we needed one!

Still, it's getting to be every time I see Crane or Thornton in there I start to get the willies... Those guys are starting to get past their sell date.

Love Veal's crazy curveball, we should see that more often.

Just like we never left first place, PK, Youk and Myers always had the 'staches. They just shaved their beards. Nice to see PK with a clutch hit. I thought he was going to leave the game on the bases earlier.

Veal is a mighty fine LOOGY. Except I think he's much more. Memories of Ohman fading.....

People say things when they are upset. A lot of fellow sox fans on this board have and not just me. That being said, they bounced back from a terrible road trip quite nicely. Great win tonight!

I went out to dinner with the Sox leading 2-1 and picked up the game online with the Sox leading 4-2 in the ninth. It was nice to see that Konerko, after leaving four runners in scoring position in his first two trips to the plate, came through with a two-out RBI single. And It was a good night for Beckham and the pitching.

Santiago is the second former closer to start and win a White Sox game this season, and thinking back to Santiago's days as the White Sox closer reminds me just how long this season has been, in a good way, of course.

My $0.02:

Santiago looked solid, been impressed with Veal since his 1st appearance, nice outing from Reed- young arms came thru tonigt.
Beckham has been one of our few impact players with the bat
Youklis is a COMPLETE warrior- reminiscent of 1988 Kirk Gibson- for him alone-I'll have to stick with this team through the roller coaster in front of us the next few weeks.
The runs are still not coming easily- Dunn, Rios, AJ need to come back life
In first on Labor Day night- pretty cool- :gulp:

:moonwalk: Bacon sizzled tonite.. Nice team effort after the stinkshow in Motown. As has been said, a nice 10-0 homestand would be what the Dr. ordered.. They seem to have become accustomed to the sod on the southside, so anything is possible, eh?

My how you can go from this  to this :bandance: :moonwalk: in a 24 hr period. Baseball, you gotta love the pathos.

Looks like Jerry got a good deal on some razor blades. The boys looked like something out of 1876..

Just enjoy the game for what it is.

He's not being negative, he's stating what happened in the game. Far too many times in the past we see guys go 0-3 or 0-4 in a single game with runners in scoring position. Paul could of let the pressure get to him, instead he put the bat on the ball and pushed a run across. I agree, it was good to see that happen.

No reason to look for negativity in a benign statement of facts of the game.

That would make 4 lefty's if we don't re-sign Liriano (Danks, Sale, Quintana). I somehow doubt Santiago will be that guy.

Let me throw this out there. Let Gavin and Jake Walk and use the savings on Greinke. Humber as 5th starter until trade deadline acquistion or re-sign Liriano. Your welcome , Kenny.:redneck

That's actually a good idea. Greinke loves the central anyway.

Dunn always has stubble but i noticed that his mustache seemed more pronounced last night, so maybe he's joining the mustache crew .. i say nobody de-mustaches until they lose ...

I thought I noticed something similar with Alex Rios too. There is a video clip from after the game with Konerko and Beckham and it sounds like there are mores 'staches on the way. The Sox will be unstoppable.

Just enjoy the game for what it is.

If there were a WSI message board commenting on every aspect of how we do our jobs, there were be much more workplace rage in this country. I had a job once that led to my being personally attacked on the local television news. In another I was the victim of a frivilous lawsuit. But it is true, I didn't do my job as well as Paul Konerko does his.

In the past, I have been criticized here for not mentioning Konerko hasn't come through with two outs and runners in scoring position after, for example, Dunn struck out with a runner on third. I have even been criticized for praising Konerko for a clutch hit after he failed on two previous occasions. Players not coming through is a big part of winning and losing. That is the game. I believe the criticism in the refereced instances were unjustified.

Konerko is hitting .320 this year with runners in scoring position. He is hitting .313 this year with two outs and runners in scoring position. Monday night, he was 1-for-3 with runners in scoring position and 1-for-2 with two outs with runners in scoring position. He was 0-for-1 with no RBIs with a runner on third and less than two outs, and that appearance came in a scoreless game. Fortunately, Gordon Beckham, who has a lot more big hits than the negative posts directed toward him would lead you to believe, had a pretty good night.

If you took my post as a dark cloud, you haven't been around WSI long. I enjoyed the game, and I was happy to see Konerko come through with a two-out hit later in the game.
