Santiago had not allowed a run in 14.2 IP (3 starts)

It will be interesting to see if Santiago gets any spot starts now to continue to give the other five starters some rest.

Brian:

I thought I read a week or so ago where Cooper said it's a five man rotation from here on out. (could be wrong though about reading that...)

I believe I read the same thing. I agree with Biran tho - it will be interesting to see if it changes and Santiago gets a spot start.

How Sale and Quintana finish may well determine if this team wins the division or not.

I'm glad to see they are giving Donnie Veal a chance. Back when he was with CHC and PIT they marveled about his fastball and curve, but it was all a matter of command.

Still, despite all the claims we have NO farm system whatsoever, you know we are experiencing some serious depth, especially with LHP.

That is evident when you can recall a young guy in Santiago who's ERA was 3.66 and nearly 10 K's per nine innings pitched when he was sent down.

Septimo's out of options, so his DL stint is probably just a breather until rosters expand in September.
