Look who my uncle spotted and pointed out to me yesterday afternoon in Ocean Beach. Yes, this is none other than former Sox pitcher David Wells. Apparently, he grew up in Point Loma and is frequently spotted hanging out in OB and around San Diego.

My uncle said hi to him and said we were Sox fans, to which Wells replied, "Oh, my boy Jake Peavy is pitching for them now." We talked talked with him for a minute or two about Peavy and his ability to stay healthy this year and the Sox in general. Then, before stepping into a tattoo parlor, Wells said it was nice chatting with people from ChiTown and he hopes I enjoy my visit.

He didn't sent his greetings to Frank Thomas?

He missed a few starts with the Yankees because he had the gout. He also surrendered the homer to Iguchi in game 2 of the ALDS in 2005 right after a ball went through Graffinino's legs to give the Sox the lead and eventually the win.

Let go your hatred. Tadahito exacted the neccessary vengence.

One of the greatest moments in White Sox history. Right after Chris Berman's, "On no! Everyone's safe!"

so glad to see I am not the only Sox fan holding onto irrational hatreds from years ago.

not sure if this should be teal or not

Buehrle also gave a lot of credit to Wells for helping him learn how to become a pitcher at the major league level.

I would still have taken David Wells for Mike Sirotka any day. Just didn't work out for the Sox (or Jays).

My favorite Wells memory with the Sox was when he called Mariotti "Kotex Boy". Little Jay got all riled up about it which was great. Not a day goes by when I don't think Chicago is such a better city without Little Angry Jay.

Yeah sometimes when I'm bored I'll go to the White Sox top plays archive and re live some of my favorite moments. Not only from 2005 but from 06, 08, etc. It's fun.
