Johnny Damon was designated for assignment by the Cleveland Indians after hitting .222 in 64 games since signing April 17.
The Indians promoted outfielder Ezequil Carrera, a 25-year-old outfielder who was hitting .420 with a recently snapped 20-game hitting streak since the All-Star break with Triple-A Columbus.
Carrera hit .294 with 65 runs, 19 doubles, six home runs, six triples and 26 steals overall with Columbus.
The Indians have 10 days to make trade or release Damon, who is unlikely to accept a minor league assignment.
Damon, 38, is in his 17th season in the majors. He played 56 games in left field and was also used as designated hitter with the Indians.
He has a .284 career batting average with 2,769 hits, 408 steals and 1,139 RBIs.

Indians have spent the better part of ten years rebuilding and have jack **** to show for it. Their farm system is more barren than ours.

I actually felt bad for Cleveland for the first time in 2007 (partially because I was actually rooting for them against Boston), losing that 3-1 lead and the chance to face the Rockies after the week plus layoff caused them to cool down. They absolutely should have won the World Series thast year. That really killed the fanbase and the franchise hasn't recovered yet.

Oh, and LOLZ again at the Jimenez trade.
