Heard this on the game last night, and the Trib followed up in the paper this morning. Friday's game was the first time in MLB history that a team has used eight rookie pitchers in a game. The previous record was seven pitchers, last done by Detroit in 2003.

What's even more amazing is that of the eight pitchers (Quintana, Omogrosso, Jones, Septimo, Marinez, Santiago, Reed, and Axelrod), the only guy who was really on the radar, at the end of last year, to be on the 2012 roster was Reed.

Yeah, I'm not sold on Omogrosso, Septimo, Marinez, or Axelrod being major league quality. But more power to them while they're up...

They're not fully ready. But they don't look much worse than the run of the mill middle reliever to me.
