Stolen from the GameFAQs Baseboard.

Between 1990 - 1999:

Ken Griffey: 11.4 BB%, 14.6 K%, .280 ISO, .299 BABIP, .302 AVG, .382 OBP, .512 SLG, .408 wOBA

Albert Belle: 10.6 BB%, 14.4 K%, .282 ISO, .296 BABIP, .299 AVG, .376 OBP, .512 SLG, .406 wOBA

Hell of a coincidence.

Frank Thomas and Jeff Bagwell were born on the same day, weren't they?

One good difference is Jr. is a first ballot HOF'er, Belle is not.

One also had the tendency to be a bit of a jackass and the other did not.

I guess defense is not considered a part of the of baseball if they are considered the same during that period.

Exactly. Griffey, in his prime, is one of the greatest defenders (in one of the hardest positions to play) in the history of the game. Belle, not so much.

Hitting-wise, they may be similar, but I'll take prime Griffey over prime Belle 10 times out of 10 if defense is a part of the equation.

You wouldn't be alone, not by a longshot, but Griffey is my favorite player ever so I'm not impartial.

Junior was also a better baserunner than Belle. Belle might have been as good as a hitter as Junior was for a time but Junior was by far the better player.

Ugh. Remember the corked bat? Baseball was so freaking crooked.

A lot of anger issues with Belle as well will make people like me wonder.

People can say whatever they want about Albert. Look up his numbers. He was a baseball beast for 10 years. The hitter's 'eye' is black at the cell because of Albert. I think he's the reason the fences were moved in also (I could be wrong). He pretty much averaged 40 doubles and 40 hrs for his career.

I have just spent an hour reading bios and articles on him. It was nice reading how he was ranked just under big Frank in most of the articles I read. He was great, so was Griffey. I just don't like people that don't know discounting Albert's career.

I don't think anyone will discredit his ability to hit. He just couldn't do much of anything else in his life or career. Junior was an awesome five tool player who also happened to be a pretty great personality. It's really no contest.
