He also rescued a little girl's kitten from a tree.

That must have happened in Kansas City, as he made a cameo appearance at the AS Game.

Nope, in Philly. He heard the girl's cry and changed into his cape and flew to Philly to effectuate said rescue.

At least he isn't ordering the Phillies to log all the sales they've made as if they came from the website.

Too bad him, Utley, and Halladay have spent so much time on the DL. Not to mention it took three months for Lee to win a game. A disastrous first half. 14 GB, look forward to next year.

Yeah. The Phils are not fighting as hard right now.

Reminder: that ludicrous five-year extension the Phillies gave to him? Just started this year. Making at least $20m each year through 2016, which an option for 2017.

Ouch.

The Phillies are going to regret a lot of the money they've spent to keep their core. I thought paying Howard that much money was a huge mistake, both for the Phillies and for Howard. Were he still under the terms of his original deal, he may have been able to migrate to the American League, where he could split time between 1B and DH.

Regardless of how Howard's half-season goes, the Phillies are looking like a beaten team. They don't have the same focus that most have come to expect, and are getting beaten handily by mediocre teams.

I don't know about focus or whatever, they're just not a very good baseball team, and the NL East is suddenly a very deep division.

Why is it that you love Howard so much again? You met him when he was in the minors or something along those lines?

At this point, even if He came back, He couldn't help the Phillies this year.

15 out with 74 to play, and Washington's showing no signs of fading.

The Nats have really impressed me. Davey Johnson is a great manager, too. He has them playing very hard.

I have a feeling the Phillies are going to go on a run and get back into the middle of the NL East race. They are too talented to play this poorly for an entire year. I am forseeing a 2005 Indians run in them.

Howard Hits His First Home Run of 2012 (http://philadelphia.phillies.mlb.com/video/play.jsp?tcid=mm_phi_vid&c_id=phi)

Howard is clearly rusty after so much time on the DL, as evidenced by his .150 batting average (3-20) in six games since being activated. That being said, it was encouraging to watch him drive the ball to LF, as he hits most of his home runs the opposite way when he's swinging the bat well. Ryan narrowly missed a home run in his first at-bat, hitting a ball that was got on the warning track in left.
