Created to serve as many as four people, the Giant Slugger is composed of Vienna Beef and topped with nacho cheese, chili, grilled onions, and jalapenos served in a 22-inch potato bun. White Sox fans can look for the Giant Slugger at portable hot dog stands near sections 109 and 538.

On July 4th, in honor of National Hot Dog and Sausage Month, the White Sox will have a hot dog eating contest prior to the game. The one pound, two-foot-long "Giant Slugger" will be featured.

Fans wanting to enter the competition, should tweet @WhiteSox, using the hashtag #GiantSlugger.

19 minutes is the record? If I can't beat that, I'd be shocked.

Finally they came up with something that will increase attendance.

I wonder if Sonia Thomas would like to go to the Sox game with me tomorrow.

I'm only getting it if it's somehow served to me in a helmet.

With a 24-inch churro?

MEH. Only if the toppings are negotiable.

19 minutes would be child's play for Kobayashi.

He'd eat a couple of these for an appetizer. Joey Chestnut probably snacks on these. Speaking of which, what time does the contest at Nathan's start tomorrow?

Considering the last hot dog competition I won, I would gladly take on this challenge!

I would pay to see that!

I think I could pace myself and finish it in 2 minutes.

The challenge here is for the Sportservice people to come up with a 2-foot-long stale bun to match the other ones in the park. I have faith that they can answer the challenge.

They just need to adhere three regular buns. Of course, that requires counting to three, which might be too much to expect.

Gotta figure there's a lot of people have no idea this thing exists. Think of the cool looks you can get if you show up in your seats with one.

You'd probably have to ask the person next to you to move over a bit. :redneck

Perhaps we should email Brooks to tell him to make dollar 2-foot long hot dogs nights.

I went to the game last night and I noticed that the "Giant Slugger" was selling for $26. Is any hot dog worth $26?

Given how creative the Sox marketing department is (I loved the most interesting man in Chicago, Jerry Reinsdorf's Dos Equis-like pitch commercial for Peavy), I wouldn't be surprised if this morphed into a Chicago's version of Nathan's.

If I know my USCF concession stands, it takes 45 minutes to order one, pay, and receive the dog.

Hopefully that's not the same unheated/ice-cold cheese on the dog that they serve with pretzels during September games on 500-level.

FWIW, the thing was designed for 4 people to share so at $6.50 a head, relative to ballpark concession prices, its not horrible.

I'm gonna have to tell my boyfriend's brother about this. He could probably eat it in under 19 minutes.

I have weird feelings of both hunger and disgust looking at the photo of this "Giant Slugger." Part of me would love to just close my eyes and eat the dog with the family but the other part is just horrified at prospect of evening knowing the nutritional value of this creation.

I saw this thread a few days ago and then on the St Louis news this morning they were touting the same thing. Weather guy ate one in between his spots over an hour.
$26 price tag too. I'd be a little embarrassed bringing this back to my seat. In the privacy of my own home...now that's a different story.....
