Good lord, 100 steals in 78 games, that's crazy (http://www.milb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20120703&content_id=34365342&fext=.jsp&vkey=news_milb).

Interesting Hamilton fact gleaned from B-R: in 1901, Hamilton was the 10th oldest player in the majors at age 35. Nowadays, that would make him about the 10th oldest player on the Chicago White Sox.
I hope the new model makes it, MLB needs a good Willie Wilson type. There haven't been many true burner lead off men in the league since the 80s. Looks like he's on the fast track; last year at this time he was playing in the Midwest League.

I saw him last August here in Lansing against the Lugnuts. He went 4-6 with 3 R and 3 SB. He was running all over the place.
Looks like he's hitting better this year and walking a lot more too. Still strikes out a decent bit, but he's definitely an interesting player to watch.

milb.com now has a page devoted to his chase of Vince Coleman's proffesional record of 145 SBs in one season, set in 1983:

Crazy that 5 of those top 10 records are from 1980, 1981, 1982 and 1983.

155 bases out of 192 tries last I saw, probably more by now. He obviously gets on base to try that many steals. I wouldn't be surprised to see a call-up.
I just looked and saw this from yesterday: in 132 games, the switch-hitting Hamilton batted .311 with a .410 on-base percentage, 86 walks and 113 strikeouts.
If I'm the Reds and he doesn't have to be protected on the 40-man roster, I'm calling him up and PRing him every game. Just being on the basepaths would be a huge distraction. With an 80% success rate (would almost certainly dip in the majors though), might as well let him have the green light too.

Astros farmhand Delino De Shields Jr. has also stole over 100 bases in the minors this year, between low A and high A, he stole 101 bases with only 19 times caught.
