It's about time to score-board watch the Royals as closely as the Tribe and Tigers.

I still think Detroit is the team to beat. Cle's starting pitching is lousy and KC is KC., despite their improvement. Two-team race by Labor Day.

The one thing that scares me now is Ilitich's money and his willingness to spend it. They dont have the pitching but they sure could get some real quick. I am hoping the Sox can send the yanks on a real tail spin, this would give the tigers competition for the available pitching.

The Yanks are already going to look for pitching, no matter what. Pettitte's going to be out until around September, and C.C.'s out too.

The Tigers will have competition, mark it down.

The Yanks GM,Cashen, says they are going to sit pat for the time being, but I suspect that if the Sox can hammer them a couple more times, he might start looking.

Dempster,Garza,Greinke and Vargas seem to be the guys I hear about most,so there will be enough to go around.

The Tribe has worse attendance than the Sox so I doubt they will make any moves.

KC is coming on...not good,as the Sox play them a bunch the next two months.

If the Sox can get to the All Star break still hot,it might start to discourage some teams from buying...altho Ilitch has too much money invested to give up.

I agree that for this year Detroit is the team to watch out for because Cleveland just doesn't seem to be that good but I could see KC coming in a relatively close third and causing problems down the stretch.

We have a steady diet of Royals, Twins and Tigers after the break. We effectively control our own destiny.

I really think this is going to be a 3 or 4 game dogfight into september.
The Tribe hit the hell outta the ball, and have experienced starters.
Tigers have the best one-two punch in the AL at the plate, and Verlander is the best starter.
KC has the deepest hitting team.

Sox have some hitting,some pitching.

The AL Central is underrated.

Watching Tiger higlights just now. What is up with Fielder's bat flip? This is the second time this week he flips his bat landing between the lines.

Can't wait for someone to put one on this Whale's ear.

Watching this game on Fox. It's a real eye opener watching the infield defense on both sides. There haven't been any errors, but they make a lot of fairly simple plays look difficult. It's clear the Sox' defense, infield at least, is on a different level than either Baltimore or Detroit.

Santana and Hafner go back-to-back off Verlander to tie the Tigers in the bottom of the 7th. Go Toons.

And three straight singles put the Toons on top, 4-3!

Four straight singles. 5-3. Verlander melting down in the 7th.

Just curious as I assume all White Sox fans actively root against Verlander - do you hope he wins when he starts? Do you actively root for him?

When the Sox were up by five games or so earlier in the year I would root for him to win if the Sox won. I typically root for him to have a good outing with a lot of strike outs and whether he wins or not I don't care. Last week for example my opponent had Valverde on his team so I was hoping that Verlander wouldn't give up any runs and have a lot of strikeouts through eight and then Valverde would come in and blow the ballgame.

Watched the game at Buffalo Wild Wings and couldn't believe that Santana and Haffner took him deep.

Very happy Cleveland came back to win. Maybe the Sox can pick up something about the way the Indians approached him since he figures to pitch in every remaining series against the Sox this year.

MLB Network pointed out that most of the big hits against Verlander, including the 7th inning back-to-back homers, came on the first pitch.

Maybe he thought he was back in KC at the All-Star Game!
