Got hit on the ankle by a comebacker, threw one more pitched and then limped off.

That puts the Yankees in a tough spot as their two most effective starters are now on the DL. It gives the Rays and Baltimore a good chance to pick up some ground.

The Red Sox are warming up, too.

wow. Sabathia and Pettite both go down, just in time for the Sox to visit.

Pettitte pitched today so we weren't going to see him, anyway, but it's nice to see their pitching staff in disarray because well, **** the Yankees.

And maybe it doesn't hurt that the Yankees had to go to their bullpen early today, and Soriano struggled with a 30-pitch save (which wasn't so different from Reed's save Tuesday night). Maybe it doesn't help, either.

The White Sox weren't going to face Pettitte anyway. The rotation is set up with Nova, undecided, Kuroda and Hughes, who started Tuesday night.

When the CC annoucement was made the Yanks were going to plug Freddie into the Friday start vs Quintana, but then when Pettitte went down, they had to use Freddie for 2 2/3 rds today,so now they are calling up a rookie,Warden, to start Friday.

They had to piece together 5 innings out of the bullpen today,so they might be a bit tapped out in the pen tomorrow also.
Nova vs Axelrod...do not like our chances, but,if we could get to Nova, their pen could be thin.

I have to think that the Yanks will be pushing hard for a starter(like Greinke) immediately....which could steal him away from the Tigers(hopefully). The market for starters just got tighter, you can bet on that.

Sources: Expectation is that the Yankees will look to handle loss of Pettitte/Sabathia from within, with Garcia/Warren/Phelps.As of 6/27/12.

Sox just need to worry about scoring some runs and trying to hold their formidable lineup.

So we can expect to see a Cy Young performance from the Spanks on Friday? Great.
