Unfortunate coincidence that just when John Danks goes down to the farm for a rehab assignment giving him a chance to play with Jordan...Jordan gets the call..is there a one-danks/roster maximum?...I am sure both brothers will live with it...:D:

Assuming John and Jordan are on the active roster at the same time, I believe this will be the first time the Sox have had brothers on the team since Dick and Hank Allen back in the early 70's.

I'm not paying for two separate jerseys with the same name

About time we give the kid a chance, he's batting .302 at Charlotte.
If he does well up here, we might not see Fukudome again in a Sox uniform.

I can't say I really even remember Fukudome even being in a Sox uniform. He has been about as productive as Manny's brief stay here.

Robbie and Sandy Alomar, Jr. in the 2nd halves of both 2003 and 2004.

Damn, you beat me to it. The funny thing is it was technically 2 stints for Robbie since KW traded for him (and Everett) in 2 consecutive seasons.

I know baseball teams don't really put initials on the back of uniforms anymore, but I kind of want to see the two first names on their backs when they're both up here.

They'll have to go to the third letter in their names, Joh. and Jor. or something like that.

I thought that initially, but since it's only one letter off of John's name, I figured "what the hell? Go all the way."

The Bears went full names with Tom and Tony Carter, even though they could have just gone Tom and Ton. Carter.

That said, I have a feeling they'll both just say Danks.

I'd like to see them go with first name over the last name a la Jack/Jim Youngblood when they both played on the Rams.

True. Even then it's still quite a few letters shorter than Saltalamacchia.

Maybe we'll just worry about it further if Jor-Danks sticks around for awhile...... Unless of course in a play-by-play we hear:

'Fly ball to center, Danks comes in, makes the catch, runner at third tags, here's the throw, cut off by Danks, Danks throws to second, over the head of Ramirez into CF, Danks gets the ball, throws to third, gets by Hudson, but backed up by Danks to avoid further damage.....'

Ugh... never mind....

Jordan Danks will wear No. 20, Fukudome on DL, retroactive to Monday

Scott Merkin
Jordan Danks is considered the best defensive outfielder in the organization, not just Minors. Teammates raved about his defense.

Daryl Van Schouwen
.302 average is 40 points higher than his five-year career mark. His .934 OPS ranks seventh in the International League.

We won't be able to afford the extra lettering unless we see more support from the fans.

I'll tell you right now, there'd better be at least 25,000 butts in those seats tonight or I'm pulling the plug on this team....AND I'll make the Danks kid pay for his own lettering!

Don't worry, we'll give him some Comiskey Cash so that he can get the lettering done at one of our gift shops.

I wonder who will wind up being the heroin among the players mentioned in the last page of this thread......

I do believe there were a few guys named Piper in this game's history.

After all, most teams do play this game on grass....... with powdered foul lines...

This thread sure went to pot quickly.....

I believe the guys that are on the 40 man roster get lettering. The other ones just have numbers. Here is a pic from a Spring Training game that shows AJ's name on the back:
