That's a shame. . .

Probably my least favorite player in MLB. . .

Throwing a bat at an ump and deservedly being beaned by Freddy in his first major league at-bat, that time he took that cheap shot at AJ when he was on the Twins, etc. etc....

I can't stand this guy.

Here it is being reported as a hate crime. Sounds like he's been hanging out with Mel Gibson.

Oh, Delmon Young - the only assault that matters is your assault on our hearts.

Best comment on the site: "Given Young's defense, I wouldn't be surprised if these charges are dropped." :D:

According to the Tribune the group he got into the altercation with was from Chicago. Wonder if it was a WSI'er?

If the hate crime part sticks this is very, very serious for Delmon. The only thing tougher in NY than their gun laws, is their hate crime laws. I have a friend who is a prosecutor there and he says if convicted he would do more time than Plaxico. :o:

Edit: Nevermind, he texted me he is being charged with a misdemeanor hate crime charge(for now). If it was the felony he would do a minimum of 3.5 years.

If he doesn't get that anger under control, his baseball career is going to be cut very short.

According to a poster at motownsports.com, yesterday was the 6th anniversary of his bat-throwing incident. I guess he has a real problem with April 26th.

Is it any coincidence that Bengals are Tigers?

http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/sns-bc-bba--tigers-youngarrested,0,7095549.story

"This isn't the first time a Tigers player has run into trouble with the law. Miguel Cabrera was arrested just before the start of spring training in February 2011 on suspicion of drunken driving. In 2009, Cabrera was picked up by police at his home in Michigan after a fight with his wife with a blood alcohol level three times above Michigan's legal limit. No charges were filed. And catcher Gerald Laird was arrested following a brawl at a Phoenix Suns game in December 2009."

There's a real dilemma here. I don't want that asswipe to get paid, but I also don't want the Tigers to be free of that terrible contract for this season and have money to pick up a contract in a trade.

Well, he has a guaranteed contract for the 2012 season so whatever happens, he's going to get paid. And he's only making $6.5 M or whatever this year, considering the Tigers have no qualms about opening the checkbook, especially considering they're not on the hook for another penny for him after this season.

I wonder if there is some clause in his contract that they can terminate it, although if there is one it probably wouldn't apply until he's convicted of a crime, anyway.

I hope he plays against the Sox in a few weeks since I have 1st row behind the Sox bullpen. That would be a lot of fun.

BTW, who the heck scratches another guy in an altercation? He should lace up the skates and join the Canucks.

Professional sports if full of Delmon Young types. Not to say of course that they all spout anti Semitic venom, just that there are lots of bad actors out there. For those that say it's always been like that I say BS. Lots of things are different not the least of which is the money, the media and the adulation.

Just had a funny thought. Knowing the ethics of panhandlers and the population makeup of NYC, it's possible the panhandler with the yarmulke was just, well, a guy wearing a yarmulke. Anything to put food on the table, or wherever panhandlers eat.

On a friday night?

Where did you see that, anyway? Don't see in the promotions schedule on the Yankees website, I don't think they would be that dumb.

One of the fans in the Yankee forum had the same idea as I did about the yarmulke. "Know your audience'" he called it. Panhandlers, ha. Clever bunch of guys.

Don't forget the fourth side. The side where people witness him throwing a bat at an umpire and beating up people while intoxicated.

Or the sixth side, where people play the snarky contrarian when someone bases an opinion of the person off of reported incidents which had witnesses, including being caught on film in one case. The snarkiness level is almost intolerable here at times. Like a fool, I've even taken the bait and responded in kind more than once. Something I'm not particularly proud of. It's a message board, and a baseball one at that. It should be for fun and entertainment more than anything else. One more thing. Delmon Young is an *******.

Me too, I don't respond too snarky often, but did in this case it's because I can't stand Delmon Young. However, it's a messsge board, everyone has opinions, and I don't know a person that's posted a message in this thread who hasn't posted a similar response one or many times over. So, back to topic, whatever happens to Delmon Young, hopefully in his case, he can somehow keep himself under control.

http://beck.mlblogs.com/2012/05/04/tigers-activate-young-designate-eldred/They could have waited until tomorrow to DFA Eldred, since Young will probably take a terrible route to the park.
