Brad Eldred? The guy was a AAAA player in Charlotte in 2008?

Yikes, they might have some problems in Big D.

Yikes, they might have some problems in Big D.The "D" isn't for "Defense."

If the Sox plan on sending either Beckham or Morel down to try to be straightened out, Inge at the minimum sure beats McPherson.

Interesting idea but his defense is a tad suspect.

He had knee surgery awhile ago and I haven't watched many Tiger games of late (other than when they are playing the Sox) but wasn't his defense the best part of his game? I seem to recall him making some great plays at third against us.

According to all the Tiger fans I know, your memory is faulty, especially if you want him to play second.

I was trying to be kind.

5187:

Even before the knee injury his range was pretty limited. The Sox would have to judge if his bat would outweigh the other areas.

Not saying he couldn't help, I think he could but you have to weigh everything.

Lip,

McPherson is no Brooks Robinson at 3rd either and I dont know if he can even play 2nd. If there is someone out there better than McPherson then this is a moot issue or if they are planning on sticking with what they have.

Ok, so he's available. So what?

Oh, to sign him? I thought April Fool's Day was the first......

Morel is just not a major league hitter - Inge is. What do you think, grab him and put him at 3b? I'm thinking maybe this is a good idea...

The player they called up to replace him was hitting .388 with 13 homers in 20 games for the Mudhens. Jeebus.

I'd pass on Inge, BTW.

Yes, Inge sucks. He'll hit like Morel but field like Betemit. And probably hit like Betemit.

Eldred has been a AAAA masher for years. He was in the Sox system in 2008 and hit 30-something HR for the Knights. Everytime he gets called up to the Majors, he falls apart.

Morel is just not a major league hitter - Inge is.Inge's career .691 OPS begs to differ. That's especially poor production from a third baseman.

Could he actually hit worse than Brent Morel? The White Sox are going to have to make a change at third base. I hope its sooner rather than later. I don't know if Inge would be the answer, but something has to be done soon.

OT- but thats really a great quote in your sig line ASINDC. I feel that way everytime I have to give an update to a procedural manual at work or do any type of email.

Just say no to a has-been .234 career hitter.

Wouldn't have thought 20+ posts were needed to reach this conclusion.

I know we're all sour on Morel right now, and rightfully so, he has had a brutal April. But Brandon Inge?

:chunks

Would rather just try out McPhearson or Conor Jackson.

Saw him end the game I was at two weeks ago. My dad commented that he couldn't believe he was still on the team. Guess it didn't hurt to see him in a Tigers uniform one last time.

I think our view of Inge is skewed a bit because he always seemed to play like an all star against us. Diving catches, clutch HRs, etc.

Quick Hits in the Tribune this morning says Inge will sign with Oakland

On the car radio this morning, I heard San Francisco sports writer Ray Ratto say the A's cut a non-productive prospect in order to sign a non-productive veteran.

I don't know if that's an accurate assessment of the situation other than the signing. I have seen baseball writers who claim to be insiders miss things and get them a bit wrong because players and coaches consider them arrogant. But essentially the Tigers are going to be paying Inge not to play for them and even against them. The A's get a player under contract for $6 million and only have to pay him the minimum, which is $480,000 for the entire season. Not that being a $6 million man is all that impressive any more.

Just a week ago, the A's claimed Luke Hughes from the Twins. The dozens of people who go to the A's games might be asking, "who's on third?"

If I want to see a reclaimation project I'll watch "Holmes on Homes". Pass on this guy as well. Hoseheads a little tainted by his Sox killer moments, but over the long run he's declined like the stock on VHS tape rewinders..

Agree that Inge blows. Plus, it wasn't his first game with Oakland. It was his 7th.

I agree that he sucks. I'm just passing along what he did last night.

Regardless, he has 8 RBIs against the Tigers in two games. He has 4 home runs and 17 RBIs since joining the A's on the last day of April. But his totals are inflated with two grand slams.

There actually is a "Brandom Inge Sucks" forum. I haven't looked at it, though.

If a guy who can actually hit becomes available, we should consider him, not for Morel, but to replace our woeful bench bat, Fukudome.

Really, lately it looks like Fukudome translates into English as "defensive replacement".

I thought he hit a bit better when he played for the Cubs.

He also got a lot more playing time. This is probably the first time Kosuke has been a bench player (remember, he was a star in Japan).
