Someone needs to change the Soxogram at the top of the page.

What's that you say? Perfect game? Phil Humber? :o:

Somebody had to write about it, so it might as well be me. Here's my babbling in the Totally Biased Game Recap (http://www.whitesoxinteractive.com/rwas/index.php?category=4&id=4236).

This one's for Humber! :superman:

I heard at some point during or after the game that he prefers to be called Philip rather than Phil?

I heard that last year as well.

I think he's earned being called Philip now.

"I figured out how a starting pitcher can win the WSI PTC!"

Or anything else he wants to be called.

His next start is supposed to be Thursday at home vs. Boston. The ovation he gets when he takes the mound that night will hopefully be epic.

And set a precedent, now nothing less will be acceptable.

Just as Humber pitched a masterpiece, you wrote one. You lucky devil, you! You know who loves perfect games? YAZ!!!!

Watch... after all of the celebrating they're undoubtedly doing tonight, the Sox will go out and lose 9-0 tomorrow just for me.

No, I'm certain they're all in bed early sipping warm cocoa and reading Byron or Keats. They're also secure in the knowledge that in their next Sunday game they owe you, big time.

This reminds me of a funny story from early last season.

I was at one of Humber's early starts and there were some 40-something guys sitting behind me. One of them was drunk, but not obnoxiously so, and kept yelling for the players to do well. He kept yelling "Come one Phil! You can do it, Phil!" when Humber was on the Mound. At one point, I turned around and told him that Humber's first name was Ed. The guy had one of those "ooops! I messed up!" looks on his face and his buddies couldn't stop laughing at him. After he let out a "come on, Ed!" I told him I had punked him.

EDIT: As I think about it, I remember this guy was trying to get a cheer going all game by having the section cheer "PHIL!"...."HUMBER!" kind of like Hawk's JOE CREEEDEEE call. Nobody was cooperating with him and his buddies were giving him a hard time about it. That's when I turned around and deadpanned the fact that his name was Ed.
