As the article points out, this is eerily similar to what we heard coming into 2007. That said, I'm also optimistic about what those guys can contribute.

Loven our bullpen and the notion that Ohman is a candidate for closer doesn't quite fit together for me.
At least I didn't read anything about Bruney.

It also quotes Williams saying this is different. The way he is describing Santiago and Reed sound pretty exciting - he's actually talking about tangible results rather than mythical crap like Sisco's "big arm". So my question to the Sox Nation - is it really different than '07?

The difference, as I seem to read it being explained, is that Sisco and Aardsma only threw heat, while Reed and Santiago actually have several pitches with deceptive movement that they can throw for strikes. At least I hope this is the case.

Do we really need to keep posting articles from the GM, coach, etc. how they like certain players? They aren't going to say in spring training they hate their team, we are going to stink this year, etc.

What's the status of Jesse Crain's sore arm?

I think he was supposed to throw again over the weekend.

Sore arm? I was told that it was a strained oblique.

Sorry. You're right. Regardless, anyone heard/read anything on how he is doing?

I read that he's just about ready to start throwing to live hitters sometime this week.

Sox blurbs in the Trib today said Crain threw 40 pitches off a mound yesterday with no discomfort and is scheduled to pitch in an exhibition game Tuesday

Any notion on who's going to close yet?

Some writers are pushing Thornton, but we know how that worked out last season.
