Recovering from Tommy John surgery he had mid-season last year, was apparently playing with his son and suffered a horrendous ankle injury. Looks like 2012 season is lost.

Injury was so severe, when paramedics arrived, they feared for his life...

What a shame. And this guy was supposed to be the new savior of the Yankees' staff a few years back. Guess this puts everything in perspective.

On another note, having been on trampolines myself, I know they can be dangerous if you're not careful on them, but wow, this really opens your eyes as to how dangerous they can really be.

That really sucks for him.

People used to joke at how much the Yankees protected him. They would make jokes about things like his "bed time," etc.

There isn't anything funny about this one though.

Get well soon Joba.

Horrible injury there, and others are right, it does put things into perspective. For his sake, hopefully it's a speedy and uncomplicated (no infection) recovery.

The last report I read on Friday stated that not only is his 2012 season "O-VAH",but the injury may have put his career in jeopardy as well.:o:

As someone about to turn 50, I refuse to jump on a trampoline,no matter how much my 9 1/2 and 5 year old nieces laugh at me.

I didn't read either of these articles, so I don't know if it was mentioned in either one, but one I read said most people who get this injury end up with an amputation. I hope that is not the case with Joba and he can somehow make it back to playing ball. Of course that's not the #1 priority, obviously it is if he can have a normal life after that.

I'm surprised a trampoline could support him

As fun as those things are, they can be pretty dangerous. I remember around 2000, it seemed like every other house had one.

Seeing how many WWE-style trampoline matches went on in my neighborhood, I'm really surprised no kids got hurt.

Joba is unapologetic for the injury and expects to pitch in 2012
