Tough news for TCQ, but it's not surprising to hear.

Eventually, his inability to stay on the field hurt his career. It's unfortunate. He could improve later. AJ Burnett was a china doll with Florida, then got more durable with the Jays and Yanks.

Funny this came out today. When I was listening to Rongey's show earlier today and they mentioned that some big time guys from the clubhouse are gone (Burls, Ozzie and TCQ), I was thinking "Clubhouse? TCQ was a big presence in the Trainer's Room."

He very well could have been a big presence in the clubhouse as well.

Especially since he was sitting in there wearing a cast at one point or another.

Shame that he was held back by injuries. I thought he was going to be the reason the sox dominated the central for years after 2008.

Maybe after he shattered his wrist after striking out against Cliff Lee (then an Indian) in 2008.TCQ got so mad after the AB,
he struck his bat against his wrist, shattering it, and ending his season. He hasn't been the same since then.:(:

I'm sure you have company in that category, including me.

Feel bad for him, but I'm glad he's gone.

I agree, sadly.

I thought he was going to be great, but his wrist breaking really summed up the two big knocks on him- 1) he's seemingly made of glass, and 2) He has some mental hangups.
