White Sox are using the site poptent.com to seek independent creators to create commercials for them and placed the following ad.

http://www.poptent.net/assignment/387

The 2012 season will be the first for new Chicago White Sox Manager Robin Ventura. Ventura played for the White Sox from 1989 to 1998 and was a 1992 All-Star & a player truly respected by fans, teammates and opponents. His hiring brings with it both a newfound sense of excitement and anticipation, as well as a bit of the "unknown" as fans are curious as to what Ventura's managerial style and philosophy will look like.

Beyond selling the exciting start of the Robin Ventura era, the fan experience at U.S. Cellular field is second to none and something that we want to remind fans to come share with family and friends. When fans come to the ballpark they too experience a deep appreciation of the game. There's the game itself, but also the good food and drink, the laughter, and the moments shared with family and friends that become memories for a lifetime.

The White Sox are looking to produce four :30 TV commercials to help launch the 2012 season. Each spot will need to support our rallying-cry campaign tagline for the 2012 season – "White Sox baseball. Appreciate the game."

Make no sense to me, you hype someone thats not on the field, then the experience at the park and then the slogan is White Sox baseball, appreciate the game. It seems to me the slogan should be White Sox baseball, appreciate more than just the game.

:roflmao:That's perfect!!

Well, when there isn't much to cheer about...marketing turns to the "soft stuff." I'm a little disappointed they couldn't come up with something better.

As much as it flopped, 2011's "All In" was a pretty good marketing slogan. It represented something that happened with the team (JR spending lots of $) and if everyone had actually PLAYED the way they were PAID, it would have been pretty clever. It just happened to fall flat on its face because the team did.

And I agree with Fenway, I loved the Grinder rules. Bring 'em back! :D:

I think the Marketing Dept. should confer with the players before deciding on a slogan. That way, they can adopt a slogan more consistent with how well the players anticipate playing in the upcoming season.

I think Brooks should have consulted WSI before even thinking of going ahead with this slogan. The creativity and humor, both intended and unintended, shows a lot more than any thoughts put into this 2012 tag line.

Honestly, I am preparing to go in for back surgery tomorrow and I have been laughing so hard that my already painful leg is screaming, but well worth it!! :D::D:
