I can't beleive this guy wins an award for "broadcast excellence." Personally I think he stinks.

Are there actually any fans of his on here? For me, him doing a broadcast is a sure thing the "Mute" button gets used.

I thought it was obvious.

McCarver is so bad, he makes his partner look bad. For years I couldn't stand Buck either, but hearing him without McCarver made me realize he isn't really all that bad. Stick him with McCarver, and he sounds like an idiot.

This I agree with. Even though I still believe that Joe Buck is a pompous ass, he is still a very solid broadcaster. McCarver is amongst the worst ever, and I'll take Hawk when he is in his awful, complaining, and loathsome ruts everyday plus twice on Sunday then listen to McCarver.

Little known fact, Ford C. Frick was legally deaf.

Thereby explaining the otherwise awful decision to give this year's award to McCarver.

I think last year after the rain delay started in the 6th inning which was made up the next day in which the Phillies won, Tim McCarver says "I don't know, Joe, it's raining out there, the field might get wet."

One of the funniest things I've ever seen! The background music made it even better. Who made that call?

Some producer at This Week In Baseball back in 93.

I remember that goofy overnight news show on ABC ( the one with the polka player) ran the entire sequence the night it happened. Aaron Brown was in hysterics.

"An award is something that's given to someone, for winning something, accomplishing something, or showing to be really good at something. This can also be true for an organization that has done something really good or shown to have accomplished something worthwhile. They, or it, can get an award too. It's not just limited to a person or persons, per say".

Maybe they should put Chris Singleton in the booth with him for a few games.

I mean, geez, doesn't the network get any complaints about the totally off-the-wall crap McCarver says on the air? He's worse than Harry Caray when he was starting to lose it.

"You are a REAL man, Deon. I'll say that"

The only entertaining or enlightening thing I've heard Tim McCarver say.

McCarver was good once

Then again in the 2005 World Series he said

“In the time it takes to watch this game, you could fly from Baltimore to Iceland.”

“Some balls are hit to places where you have no play.”

“The longer the inning, the more at bats, the more time it gives Buehrle to get ready.”

Tim McCarver is awful. He won this award just like Jeter won the gold glove in 2010 over Alexei Ramirez.

He did say something intelligent in the tarp fiasco. He suggested that they take the outfield end and pull that over the stuck end. That would have done the job, but the tarp would be upside down, so what. Yeah, he's the worst and he makes Buck worse.

At least he was original.

McCarver is an example of if you stick around long enough, you get a reward.
