Story on the local (Tampa) news this morning about a young man who was born with no legs below his knees. Talked about his struggles growing up and then finding his way at age 19 by achieving goals no one ever thought possible, i.e. climbing Mt. Everest, etc.
Anyway, even with his old prosthetic legs requiring duct tape to keep from falling apart, his health insurance company refused to pay for new prosthetic legs.
Apparently, Gavin and his wife read the story and donated the $$$ necessary to purchase new prosthetic legs for this guy. White Sox got a nice sound byte in the segment and it ended with a shot of the guy playing catch with Gavin.
Nice job!
