Other than the eye strain inducing colored shadow effects on the "M", I think the new Marlins uniforms are decent. While they are a bit gaudy, they're appropriate for Miami.

Also, it looks that much of this rebranding was lifted from the Miami Hurricanes.

I think I see where they were trying to go with the Marlins' uniforms; bright colors, Art Deco kind of emulating classic Miami theme.

Nice idea. Didn't quite work out.

I knew orange would become the primary color. Orange has become the dominant color of the Fighting Fish because orange represents Miami, and I think the Marlins wanted to pay homage to the site of their new stadium, the Orange Bowl.

I really don't find these as horrible as you all do. Maybe it's because they've got the 80's Miami/GTA Vice City look going on. It's something very different and I think they look pretty cool.

A tweak here or there could make them much better, but other than that I've got no major problem with the design or color scheme.

I think the home whites should say "Marlins" instead of "Miami". I guess they're pushing the "Miami" instead of the "Florida".

These might be the ugliest unis in pro sports. I really don't understand how teams keep trotting out these hideous things when a simple google search will yield plenty of results for fans/designers that do mockups for team logos and uniforms that blow the pro ones consistently out of the water. Who the hell are they hiring to do this stuff? I swear the average teenager with photoshop could do as good or better than this tripe.

The uniforms like these (I guess I'm including the Oklahoma City Thunder and the first TB Rays uniforms, too) confuse me. Not only am I confused by what the designers and Marlins staff were thinking, but I'm puzzled by the plurarlity of colors floating around in their brand now.

Orange, Teal, Black, Yellow, White? Pick two, maybe three colors. If anything, the third color should be reserved for piping and/or highlights. I understand the neon-glow of South Beach. I understand that these colors work for the Dolphins as well. In fact, they pull them off fairly well. But there's simply too much going on with these uniforms. It looks like Dan Marino vomited a serving of sherbet on some cloth.

The "M" looks like the brand for Miami's convention center, or airport. I feel like this is a reflection of the "swag" culture my generation is guilty of gracing our world with.

What I heard on uniwatch was that by 2013 the black will be gone and the Mets will have a blue alternate. Hopefully the black will be gone by 2012, adding black to a uniform for no reason was a bad idea when they started it in 1998 and it's bad now. Hopefully the Blue Jays come around too and get rid of the black.

http://newyork.mets.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20111115&content_id=25977508&vkey=news_nym&c_id=nymNot true. They have eliminated black from the plain home jersey, the pinstriped jersey and the road jersey. They will also wear blue caps with those jerseys. However, they are keeping the black jersey and cap around for another year. They said it will only be worn for a handful or road games, never at home.
They wanted to keep an alternate jersey for merchandise sales, but they didn't get the idea until too late to add a blue jersey. After a hugely positive fan response to wearing a blue "Los Mets" jersey for Hispanic heritage night last year, they decided to add a blue alt jersey for 2013. They missed the deadline to add it this year. They will eliminate the black jersey/cap when they add the blue one.

With the simple move of removing black from the other jerseys and wearing the blue cap with them, the Mets have by far the best change of the offseason so far.

I must be the only one who liked the Mets black tops and hats. They're reminiscent of that 1999-2000 run where they battled the Braves in NLCS, then the Subway Series in 2000. But that was 11 years ago, so I guess it's time for a new start that's a nod to the past.

Nice. Those '94 unis are how I first knew the Rangers.

Indeed. Very nice. Can they also bring back the blue and white unis from the Hank Aaron No. 715 days of the early 70's? I loved the caps with the white panel with a the red lower-case "a."

The fabric weight of the new Majestic Authentics is a huge improvement! I will actually be able to wear them to games in the summer without sweating my balls off....

The Astros are wearing throwback uniforms for every Friday home game this year to celebrate their 50th anniversary.

Interesting thing is that according to this MLBlog post (http://footer.mlblogs.com/2012/02/13/astros-baseball-dinner-and-fanfest-provide-a-heavy-dose-of-nostalgia-the-50th-anniversary-celebration-is-underway/), the Colt 45's throwbacks will not have the pistol on the jersey because it was "deemed inappropriate to include on a uniform".

Then why bother wearing it?

Completely agree. Why bother wearing it? They should just use the first Astros uniform instead.
