I always wonder why those guys go back. Who was it that had family kidnapped in Columbia? Renteria or Orlando Cabrera? These guys have to build fortresses to keep the mercenaries away. I know it's home for them but doesn't seem worth it to me. Just live in Miami.

Sometimes it's just that simple.

Yeah I can't really criticize Ozzie for going back every year, for example. It's not like they don't know **** goes down there, but it's their home.

And it's not like all these guys make league minimum either. I know I could never live somewhere that could potentially cause harm like that to me or my loved ones. But to each his own I guess.

I hope Ramos is ok. That's terrible that people resort to this kind of crap.

Terrible news. I hope it is resolved quickly.

Here's a short ESPN piece on it. They really haven't uncovered much yet, I guess...

Edit: Update - According to Rafael Rosas the VZ internal affairs seem to have found the car with which Ramos was abducted https://twitter.com/#!/rafaelrojasc/status/134646860055986176

Ozzie was friends with the government there. I seem to remember him bringing the trophy for the President.

That's kind of what I think, Sean Penn went on a tour of Venezuela with Chavez this year and was praising Chavez and Ozzie said "**** Sean Penn, if he wants to see the real Venezuela I will show it to him."

In March of 2010 he went on a tirade against Sean Penn for saying Venezuela was a great place and Chavez is the best, calling him a clown and saying "why don't you go live there?", etc. After the media tried to make a controversy about Ozzie not going to the White House in 2006, Ozzie said that he had met the President Bush just as many times as Chavez - once.

It may be because it's home, but it says he was playing winter ball there also. He wasn't just on vacation....and in his case he does make the league minimum.

And that may be the biggest battle.

He should also begin looking for a new place to live.

Wilson should move to Miami and join the Venezuelan community there.
