Verlander will start twice and can probably be used in relief if this thing goes seven.

Advantage Tigers.

I'm picking the Tigers because that was my original pick, but I have no feel for this series. Hope it's an entertaining 7 game series.

The Tigers and Rangers both had bullpen problems, but they really stepped up in their clinching games. Both lineups can put up a lot of runs so this should be a very fun series. I'll go Rangers in 7.

Tigers.

Wouldn't it be weird if, in the same year we saw a rematch of the 2006 NBA Finals (Heat over Mavs) we see a rematch of the 2006 World Series (Cards over Tigers?)

Just a random thought  But I do think the Tigers are going to win it this year.

If that happens there could very well be less emotion in Joe Buck's voice than in 2005.

I'm going with Detroit in this one, as I think they have better pitching.

I'd actually be excited to see Detroit and Milwaukee in the World Series.

Rooting for Tigers- big Leyland fan, and I just respect the franchise and their history-

There's not a single team or thing from Texas that I like-they're my least favorite team in the post season.

Foulke You

I'm sticking with the Tigers as my WS pick. Tiger starting pitching is deeper than the Rangers and pitching usually wins out at this time of year. Scherzer and Fister have pitched well alongside Verlander. Throwing Verlander twice certainly is a huge advantage since Texas lacks a true ace. I'm going to say Tigers in 6.

Technically speaking, there's no such thing as a "blown hold," a pitcher gets a hold if he enters the game in a save situation, doesn't finish the game, but leaves with his team still in the lead. If a pitcher enters the game in a save situation, even if it's the 6th or 7th inning, and relinquishes the lead, it's just a blown save. Valverde entered the game last night in the 9th with the score tied at 3, a non-save situation, so he only gets a loss for his efforts, not a blown save.

For the Yankees and the Red Sox, definitely. They have the most potent lineup in the AL, and I don't think Milwaukee or St. Louis has the pitching to do to them what the Giants did last year.

Cruz just set the record for most HR in a playoff series with his 6th. 15-4 now.

I liked this year's Tigers team much better than the 2006 version. The 2011 Tigers earned their spot in the postseason this year, unlike the 2006 team that choked away a huge lead, wound up the wildcard and used that consolation prize to get hot and get to the World Series, where they choked again. I don't see this Tigers team as choking-like you said, the Rangers were the better team. TheTigers though, won when they needed to win. Besides, any team that continually bitch-slaps the Yankees out of the postseason can't be all bad. (Not that I hate the Yankees, but it IS fun to see ESPN's favorite teams get kicked around).
