Too bad it's not for all of it.

Woo! He can't possibly be worse than McCarver.

He just gave a very candid interview on WEEI - he will be just fine on FOX

But now what's interesting about this substitution is, that one guy will be filling in for another.

I think Francona has done fine all things considered.

NY writer was furious BEFORE the game about Francona being hired

I liked Francona's work. 2 weeks ago he was in the game, reading scouting reports, etc. so he has some fresher insight than a guy who last played/managed 6 or 7 years ago. And I liked that he was unpolished. I don't like milquetoast cookie cutter broadcasters.

I thought he did a good enough job.

Oddly, Buck sounded better too.

Francona will never be confused with Joe Garagiola, but he did a much, much, much better job than McCarver ever did.

Granted, I would rather have a houseplant doing color for these broadcasts than McCarver.

I'm not familiar with that writer but doesn't he know a trained slug would be an upgrade over McCarver? Francona did just fine IMHO. The more I hear him and of him, the more I like Terry Francona.

Very few people love the game more than Francona - it is the only life he has known because of his Dad.

Apparently there was some contact between the White Sox and Francona's agent but it fizzled quickly.

I think it is very possible Terry will join with Theo who seems certain to leave Boston now.
