I don't predict, so I figured I'd start a non-prediction thread. I just pick my favorite teams in order and root thusly:

AL:
1. Rays
2. Rangers
3. Tigers
4. Yankees

NL:
1. Brewers
2. Phillies
3. Cardinals
4. Diamondbacks

Would be happy with Brewers or Rays winning it all.

Brewers and Rays.

I vaguely dislike the Tigers, entirely because of the fact that they are in our division. I also vaguely dislike the Phillies. This is the first postseason in a long time where I don't outright hate any of the teams.

I like the cut of your jib w/r/t the AL. If I could make the Yankees #666 on this list, I would. I don't really much care about the NL, but I'd flip the Cards & Phillies, just because The Redbirds winning it all AGAIN would stick in the Cub fan's craw AGAIN. Schadenfreude (sp?) can be a bitch.

I would be cool with anyone winning except the Yankees. I bleeping hate the bleeping Yankees.

BTW, I knew there was a reason why the Orioles have always been one of my favorite teams. Thank you, thank you, thank you for sending ESPN's beloved Red Sox home.

Cool uniforms, great old hats (with the white front and the smiling Oriole), beautiful ballpark, Cal Ripken Jr. and now you've kept Boston from the playoffs.

Love ya, O's!

As a Chicago native living north of the Cheddar curtain, I have mixed feelings. I like and generally root for the Brewers but having both football and baseball champions up here could get a little annoying.

I would really love to see the Tigers take it all. City could use it.

Ha! Fair enough... but come on, there are some interesting teams in the playoffs. 3 of the 8 teams have never won a World series (all three only appearing once). 1 team hasn't won since 27 years ago. The potential for a Yankees collapse is always fun.

Here is something interesting. Each playoff team's record against the other playoff teams this season:

Cardinals 20-17
Phillies 12-13
Diamondbacks 11-12
Brewers 16-22
Tigers 18-8
Yankees 22-14
Rays 17-22
Rangers 11-19

Only Detroit, the NYY, and St. Louis have winning records against the other playoff teams. (So much for Detroit not being competitive outside of the AL Central.)

I've never liked the Cardinals. Growing up in Cincinnati, the Reds were my second favorite team next to the Sox. In Cincinnati, the Cardinals are about as hated as the Pittsburgh Steelers, Cleveland Browns and Michigan Wolverines.

Plus, they always act so self-righteous, like they're the "keepers of baseball etiquette" or some stupid bull**** like that. They always want to deflect attention away from themselves if something doesn't go their way, and just like their manager, they always find something to bitch and moan about. Here's a non-comprehensive list of their "complaints":

The baseballs are "too slick" at Great American Ballpark: http://espn.go.com/blog/sweetspot/post/_/id/3082/slippery-balls-in-cincinnati

The led board in Milwaukee is "too bright" the Cardinals say: http://www.cbssports.com/mlb/story/15389758/no-changes-after-cardinals-complain-about-miller-park

The Cardinals accused the White Sox of stealing signs back in 2006: http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20060623&content_id=1519933&vkey=news_cws&fext=.jsp&c_id=cws

After hitting a home run in the NLCS in '02, Kenny Lofton of S.F. is thrown at in his next at-bat, and pitching coach Dave Duncan has the gall to call Lofton "classless": http://articles.sfgate.com/2002-10-11/sports/17564351_1_fines-for-both-dusty-first-pitch-benches-clearing-incident

Adam Wainwright bitches about the white towels being waved at Dodger Stadium during the '09 playoffs, which "caused" Matt Holliday's ninth-inning error. Never mind the fact that the Dodgers had to play through the same thing and conviently enough, they didn't commit any errors in the outfield: http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/dodgerthoughts/2009/10/white-towels-not-being-waved-during-hollidays-error.html

This person who writers a blog for the Brewers has a lot more of them, including such complaints as LaRussa bitching about the mound at Coors Field: http://www.thebrewersbar.com/2011-articles/august/a-short-history-of-tony-la-russas-complaints.html (http://www.thebrewersbar.com/2011-articles/august/a-short-history-of-tony-la-russas-complaints.html)

In short, **** the Cardinals and everything about them. I hope the Phillies absolutely destroy them in the first round. If they lose, I wonder if they'll blame their loss on Philly fans being "too mean." **** 'em. Go Phillies.

This.

During a series against the Brewers this year, Chris Carpenter struck out Nyjer Morgan, and cursed at him. This caused an altercation between the two, and after the game Carpenter told reporters he didn't say anything(despite Morgan's insistence that Carpenter cursed at him) . The next day, he wanted to "clear the air", and said he didn't lie, but he did curse at Morgan, starting the whole fracas:rolleyes:.
