Is it complete? Did the Sox get Martinez and Marinez? I saw that they were rated the 4th and 5th best prospects in the Marlins system. So, did the Sox actually get a decent return in this trade?

I mean, clearly it is unlikely the Sox would get much, considering the rest of baseball would have given nothing, but can we at least hold out some hope that maybe one of these guys can play?

Obviously, the Sox are in a rebuild mode,so they need all the cheap talent they can find. Anyone know anything about these two guys?

That can't be right.

Trades are not allowed this time of year.

Sure they are, as long as the players cleared waivers. I remember a last weekend post-waiver a few years ago.

But since we haven't heard anything official, maybe the deal will go through after the Series.

That can't be right.Oh, yes it can.

Mind you, Baseball America didn't think their farm system overall was that great - neither of these guys made their overall top 100 - but it's still a fairly good haul for Ozzie.

Yikes! Well, they'll fit right in with our system!

And it's not technically a trade, it's "compensation."

The Marlins farm system is indeed about as bad as the Sox currently.

It was a decent return for a manager on his way out. A possible utilityman, and a reliever with closer stuff but control issues.

Yeah, Marinez was throwing up to 98 with a decent slider, but was always getting hurt. Lets hope Coop can do something with this kid and he can be a decent BP guy.

I'm surprised to hear this. I really don't follow the minors that closely, but I always thought the Marlins' strength was being consistently good at developing players.

They're all playing on their major league team!

Marq is dead on. Many graduations. Especially Stanton and LoMo. They haven't replenished well lately. Missing on Skipworth was pretty big too. He has been a significant bust.

Donny Lucy and Jhonny Nunez (he's was still with the Sox?) have been outrighted to make room on the 40-man for the new acquisitions from the Marlins (see "extra innings" at the bottom of this article):
