Little nugget buried in Cowley's story (http://www.suntimes.com/7895136-417/ozzie-guillen-out-managing-last-sox-game-tonight-sources-say.html) about Ozzie tonight.

Good. Cooper has earned more years with the Sox. He continues to be one of the better pitching coaches in the MLB.

I hope they keep Coop around, but whoever comes in after Ozzie should have his choice of coaches.

I wouldn't mind Jeff Cox sticking around either, because frankly he's a badass.

Talk about a guy who could write a hell of a book when it is all said and done.

Probably deserves it but shouldnt a manager have a say in who his coaches are?

I wouldn't mind keeping the rest of the assistants, as long as Walker gets run out of town on a rail.

Walker being fired is the most important thing. He has to go.

Good. That's how it should be.

Cooper has done a good job on many levels, but he deserves to go because our staff as a whole makes little effort to hold baserunners close and it has allowed our hitters to become target practice for the rest of the league. Two basics of the game that we've been terrible at for years.

The hitting coach is probably the least important thing to stay or go.

Is this serious?

Cooper is overrated. Fine coach but nothing spectacular. Danks and Floyd have regressed on his watch every year since 2008.

I'm glad Coop is back. I do think that the tension between Walker and Kenny will result in Walker being gone. I have no idea if Rios suddenly deciding to hit had anything to do with the public spat between Walker and Kenny - it sure seems like it.

Maybe they're not very good

Coop deserves to stay. As the (hopefully) lone holdover, may he be to the new manager as Buddy Ryan was to Ditka -- a key defensive coach on a championship team. But without the threats of physical violence!

This probably means that TLR is not coming because TLR would bring Dave Duncan with him.

I'm thinking that Coop is on the next jet to New York on September 29th.

Reports supposedly quote a source saying LaRussa won't come because of Williams.

I dunno, Coop has it pretty damn good here. Everyone loves him. Why give that up and go under the microscope in New York?

This indicates to me that the Sox already have a pretty good idea who their next manager is.

Probably an ex-White Sox player with no previous managerial experience, at least not in the major leagues.

Since Jerry and Kenny love bringing in ex-Sox players to coach who do you think are candidates for hitting coach if Walker is gone?

Big Hurt? Ventura?

If Coop left, BA would've been my pick for pitching coach.

BA should probably be bench coach anyway. He knows it well. SIngleton could be the skipper.

Coop has never had the opportunity to coach BA the pitcher. Coop will fix him.

I say slow swing as hitting coach. Harold for manager.

I'm glad they are trying for Coop. I think Ozzie changed the attitude of the Sox for them to become winners - but that championship probably had more to do with Coop and his successes with the pitching staff than anyone else.

The only good thing that can come out of today:

Greg Walker won't be the hitting coach next year.

So long Walker! You should feel blessed that you stuck around 5 years longer than you should have.
