Dead Men Walking

Losing season here we come (for the 3rd time in five years...)

Longest losing streak of the year is seven...right now they've dropped six in a row.

Seems like they're playing to save Ozzie's job aren't they?

At least we are on our way to a protected first round pick. Though, I can't see the Sox signing any Type A free agents this offseason thanks to this disastrous year.

No Christmas presents for the coaches' kids this year

And Thorny got hung out to dry again (that's happened an awful lot to him this year).
They've mailed it in.

Most of the guys in that second list at least had somewhat productive seasons, Dunn has been a complete bust, he should give half his salary to some charity.

Maybe Juan could have had that line drive, but I still put it on Thornton. He just no longer is fooling the league with laser straight fastballs. Even leftys seem to be hitting him better since the All Star game last year.

I hope they can move him in the offseason for some prospects. Personally, he seems like a good guy,but he is overpriced at this point. He can go to the Yankees and be a true loogy for them.

As for the rest of the game, it does seem like one long game all year with the Royals. They hit the crap outta the ball, constantly, and the Sox are little engine that could fighting uphill all game against their marginal pitching.
Nice to see the Sox rally all the way back,as Hawk said, Sox got Humber off the hook and that has not happened much this year. Brent Morel continues his power surge, which is good to see. Can the Sox trade for some of KC hitters or maybe their hitting coach...they just tatoo the ball constantly.

The Sox magic number remains at 4.

(for clinching 3rd place over the Royals)

They should be happy they don't have to face Bruce Chen those 4 times.

A National League official on Dunn:

"There's a fine line between guessing and being between the fastball and breaking pitches. When you guess, you're going to be right some times. But when you're between pitches, that's a bad place to be. This is a big winter for him."

If I read this right it sounds like Dunn has lost bat speed and his mental approach is all fouled up.

Mark Reynold was the only one with any significant at bats. But at least he produced in the homer and Rbi departments a bit.I think it is not a stretch to say this is the worst season ever by any major league player in history.
