Manager Tom Nieto and hitting coach Floyd Rayford got fired yesterday from Minnesota's Triple A club.

It's the first fallout from the bad season the big club had.

What's the point? It's the players fault. [quote]Russ99 [quote]

Russ has been over-the-top in his baffling defense of Ozzie, but when players fail to play well, it is primarily their fault. That is not to say that the Twinkees AAA staff did not deserve to be fired, but players cannot be absolved of the own failures by simply blaming the coaching staff.

Do you know for a fact that this was even a sign of accountability? Even the media on the inside (and most of them have been been below .500 in getting things right for years), doesn't know this is about accountability or, if it is, accountablity for what.

Sox should go after these guys and send them to Charlotte.

Then maybe our minor leaguers will actually know how to bunt.

This reminds me of the mother who tells the teacher on the first day of school "My little Bobby is very sensitive. If he misbehaves, just slap the kid next to him; that will straighten him out."

The Sox should fire the Charlotte staff. That will straighten things out in Chicago.

Gardy complained within the last month that his players didn't know baseball fundamentals. Tells me all I need to know about this situation.

I'd like to know why Gardy is not practicing fundamentals with those guys.

The Sox have been pretty rotten at fundamentals for years. Who knew getting rid of the Charlotte staff could fix that and show accountability?

I recall reading that he was, during the season at various times.

So why didn't it work this time as opposed to previous times?

So why didn't it work this time as opposed to previous times?Probably because he had too many players who were pushed up to Minnesota too early thanks to injuries, or ineffectiveness. Instead of practicing those things in AAA like they were supposed to, they had to learn on the fly and there were probably a few guys playing out of position (don't know who, just a guess).

Twins and Royals, two teams going in opposite directions. The Twins once had one of MLB best farm system. No more! An interesting article from today's StarTribune:

They've also had 2 straight 90 loss teams. That usually brings a pink slip.
