Who will the Sox bring up when the rosters expand tomorrow?

2 of the expected Sept 1 call ups are already here (Flowers and Viciedo) thanks to AJ and Quentin going on the DL.

What can we expect tomorrow?

Oney Guillen in Center.

Actually, it will be Friday, tomorrow is an off day.

Reed please. There is nothing else to be excited about.

Addison Reed and Jordan Danks, I'd like to see both of them up here for the rest of the season.

Escobar will probably come up as another running option and utility infielder.

Reed is a given. I'd say Danks, Escobar, Milledge, McPherson, Infante, and Lindsay all have made some cases to earn a call up, not that they all will be brought up. Seems like the Sox are always conservative on this end.

I'd go with Reed, Danks, Escobar, Milledge and an extra catcher, since Humber and A.J. are coming of the DL, and hopefully Quentin will join them soon.

Lucy is already up and will likely stay up.

Are AJ and Humber ready to be brought back up on Friday health-wise?

AJ will be here Friday. HUmber will be starting one game of the double-header in Minnesota.

I would assume Hector Santiago would be back but the AA team is in the playoffs so that might affect their decision.

How about Lastings Milledge, Dallas McPherson, or Gookie Dawkins

They need arms, long relief guys that can jump in on Monday early if Stewart or Humber get in trouble, and of course if Peavy is done or has another hiccup like yesterday.

Who are the best pitching prospects?

With the question marks about Peavy and Stewart, I could them putting Doug Davis on the 40-man and bringing him up in case they need someone to start a game or two. He's not much but at least he has started games in the big leagues. His ERA at Charlotte was pretty good (but his w-l wasn't)

Santiago?

Seems like Santiago, Lindsay, Escobar are going to be called up according to an ESPN link on twitter. Also says Reed will only be called up if the Sox are "in it" per KW. Dumb not to call up Reed. Must be some innings limit or something.

Santiago needs to be up here. Screw Birmingham's playoff run. Santiago is better than Will Ohman.

Interesting story about Shane Lindsay I'm sure many of you heard on Fox's Saturday broadcast. Shane's mom flew to Detroit from Australia, found the stadium, bought a ticket for Friday night's game, and not knowing much about baseball rules didn't realize her son was sitting in the bullpen. She found him and sat behind the bullpen. Her timing was good, since the Sox were dominated by Verlander, Shane was able to pitch, which may not have been the case in a close game. The announcers surmised that Shane is the first Sox player from Australia.

Sox call up Dylan Axelrod and move Tony Pena to the 60-day DL to make room for him on the 40-man roster.
