Not the reason any of us wanted to see him though

Wouldn't it be worth it to just wait till September 1st at this point for Viciedo because don't we get another year till arbitration if we hold till September 1st or am I completely wrong in this point?

He's in Durham, may not be so easy to get to Seattle with Irene in the way.

Supposedly he'll be up Saturday according to Merkin's tweet and be playing some 1B and OF according to Gonzo's tweet.

About time. Here's hoping Ozzie actually plays him and De Aza. Let's see what this team has for next year.

He's already past the point of a Super Two so it doesn't matter any more

What sucks about this, if you're really looking at it for the future, is how does this affect Quentin's trade value over the offseason? This can't be good. Kenny almost had a deal with the Braves before the deadline for some of their young pitching (not Beachy), but if Quentin doesn't come back strong before the end of September, I wonder what kind of return can be expected this offseason. Also, its nothing but bad that this happened to the same shoulder he destroyed in Arizona.

Just a terrible situation, moreso for the future than the rest of this year.

I'm not worried. It's not a catastrophic injury.

Quentin - The team is down a player and that's now fair to the team.

Hope Dayan works out this time. Ozzie's comment, when speaking to the media. "Now he's coming to town, we're in the pennant race".

Are you saying Viciedo didn't work out last year with the Sox?

The 5-foot-11, 230-pound Viciedo hit .308 over 104 at-bats for the White Sox during a 2010 callup, while playing 23 games at third base and seven at first.

Carlos will be back by Sept 3rd and will be 100% according to Ozzie...I am not worried.
Too bad we did not have Dayan the last two games in Anaheim..at least game 1,anyway. Otherwise, Sox have gone 3-2 with Carlos out..so they survived, but 4-1 would have been possible.

Dayan is going to have pressure on him to perform immediately,as this team is lacking punch right now...outside of the 98lb wonder,Lilly.

You are quite correct. A deal for Quentin was just about made at the deadline. Thornton is likely gone this off-season as well.

Exactly what Doub said. Nobody wants to trade Quentin, but he's about to make big money and actually is a player who could fetch a nice return in a trade.

If the Sox are indeed going to cut payroll, there's no way Q is going to get a multiyear deal from them.

DING DING DING!!!!! Correct!

The Sox have painted themselves into a corner with bad contracts. Their attendance is down for a 5th year in a row and i'm guessing that season ticket sales/renewals won't be that great after this craptacular season.
The Sox owe $43M to Dunn, Rios and Peavy in 2012. Those contracts are unload-able.

They're going to have to slash payroll somehow. I'll be surprised if Quentin, Danks, and Floyd are all back on the Sox next season (that doesn't mean I expect all 3 to be gone). Nobody wants to see Quentin go, but he is trade-able and will likely be part of the Sox payroll slashing.

....oh, and I'm guessing we can say goodbye to Mark Buehrle too.

But, at least Kenny, Ozzie, and Walker should all be back. They aren't accountable for any of this mess that the team is in.

Ok, here's the plan: without any publicity, Dunn and Quentin change jersey numbers. Kenny then calls up the Twins' GM and says "I'll give you Number 20 for three AAA prospects."
