Thoughts?

Didn't Burls complain about this a few years back?

Buehrle's allegations came against the Rangers, and were pretty damn silly.

Mark was accusing Texas of doing something similar. However, rumors of The Rangers stealing signs and relaying them to their hitters, probably electronically, had been around for years prior to Buehrle's comments.

We should start cheating at the cell, maybe then we'd be able to score some runs and win some games at home. In fact, I'll do it. Just give me a telescope and a seat in the fan deck.

Wasn't Joe Nossek great at doing that?

Players and coaches on the field or in the dugout stealing signs from one another, I've got no problem with - it's "controlled" by the players on the field - it's part of the game. Guys in the bleachers stealing signs is a bit too far for me.

Maybe the Sox problem is that opponents are stealing their signs at US Cellular. Come to think of it, I have seen somebody wearing visiting team gear at the Cell in almost every game!

Joe Nossek was an expert sign stealer, but of the legal kind, from the dugout. He would basically figure out the opposing team's 3rd base and 1st base coaches signals, as well as noticing if a pitcher was tipping his pitches.

I do remember The Sox being accused of doing some cheating through the old Comiskey Park scoreboard in the early to mid '80's. But I have no idea if the accusations held any merit though.

Let's not forget the strange allegation that A-Rod was stealing the Yankee's signal for opposing batters so he would get a quid pro quo. If it was anyone else but A-Roid, it would not have credibility.

If they are indeed stealing signs, it's not doing much to help them out in the standings.

Jays scored 26 runs in the 3 wins vs the Sox in the spring up in Toronto.
All I know is that the Sox really struggle to hold down their offense up in Canada over the years. In Chicago...not so much.

I remember hearing that Joe had the Brewers signs stolen and we kept on throwing out would be brewer basestealers. However, one time we pitched out and the brewer didn't go because he missed the sign. After the last game of the series Nossek told Treblehorn to teach his players the signs.:D:

It's that thin, Canadian air. Ball travels farther.

The Sox were accused of having someone stationed in the old scoreboard at Comiskey Park under Bill Veeck. Supposedly a light on the board would turn on if it was a certain type pitch coming.

Sox relief pitcher Al Worthington, who would go on to have a decent big league career, particularly with Minnesota, and a deeply religious man, quit the team when he heard about it. Simply left and "retired" over it.

Then you had the frozen ball controversy in 1965 charged by Tiger pitcher Hank Aguirre.

Eh, this is baseball-related so it's no big deal. Really, the fault is Bautista who apparently didn't feel the need to share this until right now.

At least we're not sitting around talking about how much stupid Oney Guillen can cram into 140 characters.

Didn't Verlander throw a no-no in Toronto this year?

If a pitcher thinks that the other team is stealing signs... couldn't he just have the catcher switch up the signs like they do with a man on second?

Wonder what Alex Rios says? Did he benefit when he was up there and now that he is not up there, his numbers have come back to earth? Joking...
