The video is hard to watch so proceed with caution. Link (http://colorado.rockies.mlb.com/video/play.jsp?content_id=17703291&topic_id=8877456&c_id=col)

Just got the email that he will undergo surgery and is out indefinitely. Get well soon Juan!!!

This is one my greatest fears as a baseball observer.
The other fear:an ash/maple bat cracks in half after a hitter swings, striking a player(or worse yet, a fan).

I think it was the way he fell and landed, not the impact of the ball itself, that broke his neck. I saw him fall, and when he landed, I immediately thought "Holy ****, that's not natural".

That was scary...hopefully he recovers.

Hope he's ok, that was very hard to watch. Props to Todd Helton for helping to put him on the stretcher.

A lot of strides have been made in treating neck/spine injuries recently, but that doesn't make it any less terrifying to be this young man right now.

I also feel bad for the guy that hit the line drive. He probably feels horrible right now.

I'm sure Tyler Colvin shares your fears.
