No more Sox deals, apparently.

Hopefully a Guillen sacking will be announced after today's game, because that's the only chance we have with this roster.

You may end up being right, but the deadline is 4pm EDT Sunday

4? I read it was 1 EDT. There's still hope.

Do you have to post this in every thread?

I hope Kenny finds a taker for Thornton before the deadline.

I actually told my season ticket rep Friday when he called that I was unhappy with the team, and he asked what (aside from the obvious "more victories") I thought a good solution would be. I told him if they fired Ozzie, I'd renew. Obviously, this has no bearing on anything, but it made me happy to at least be able to say it to the Sox in some small way.

C'mon man, that's getting tired. This thread has absolutely zero to do with this.

OK, now the trade deadline has passed.

Notsofastmyfriend. Hawk just said on air that the BoSox have acquired the often-injured Eric Bedard from Seattle. No other names mentioned.

Three-way trade with the Dodgers, no Chisox involved.

Too bad they didn't move at least Thornton. Now that they stood pat, the team will predictably sink like a rock in the 2nd half.

Good.

Good for whom? This franchise has no vision or direction.

Maybe not but this is still a .500-ish team, it's not exactly in need of a complete tear down.

Teams can still deal players who clear waivers. Obviously hot prospects wouldn't clear waivers, though.

Exactly. Hypothetically, what if Ozzie listens to KW and plays the guys who will help the team win--namely, De Aza in for Rios and Viciedo for Dunn.

If both of those guys even play half decent, isn't that a significant upgrade right there? The team can play .500 with two gaping holes, can't they be somewhat better with those two guys? And all it's going to take to win this division is "somewhat better."

I'm not saying it will happen. Or those guys will even play half decent. But there are other options they can try that might work--and I would hope that they explore them before completely tearing it down and starting over.

I'm glad the Sox stood pat. I don't trust this organization to rebuild, anyway.

At least the White Sox don't have the money this year to claim an overpriced, underperforming player.

Yeah, it's only six position player improvements away from being a contender.

This isn't true. It's 4, which is a lot, but if we were better at 3rd, left, second, and center, we would be very good.

Upgrading 3B would be like 4 moves in 1. Morel with a runner on second and winding down Miller had no chance.

It will be interesting to see if he clears waivers. He's getting good money...pretty much decent closer money ($5.5 million in 2012 and 2013 with a $6 million option for 2014 w/ a $1 million buyout). He'd probably be worth a claim because I don't see the Sox giving him up for nothing, even though he's a fairly expensive set-up man right now.

This thread contains some very silly postings.
