Could Rodrigo Lopez be far behind?

Could just be KW's insurance policy if he moves Jackson in the near future. With Peavy a permanent question mark, this gives the SOX a safety net in the case that he or another starter get hurt. It also likely keeps Sale in the bullpen for the rest of the season, because as of now, he or Santiago would be next (7th) in line.

With the said, Doug Davis sucks.

We had no one in the minors that could post a 6.50 MLB ERA?

Intriguing. I bet Kenny "got his guy", too.

Well, Charlotte's rotation is horrible, so I guess he couldn't do much worse. I really hope he stays down in the minors.

My head will explode if he gets called up before Dayan.

I'm right there with you. I have a feeling this is an insurance move for if/when Jackson gets moved. Pretty piss poor guy to choose as insurance, but I doubt he gets the call unless an injury occurs.

A pitcher's promotion really doesn't have much to do with Dayan being promoted.

Not much of an insurance policy.

Yeah, seriously, if the Sox need a pitcher, I'm not sure what a corner outfielder would contribute.

My head would just explode if the Sox ever needed to rely on Doug Davis for anything more than minor league filler.

"All In" means signing retreads who couldn't cut it with the Cubs.

Hopefully, he pitches for Charlotte the rest of the season and we never see him in a White Sox uniform.

When you are as thin in the pitching dept. as the Sox are, you look for any type of depth you can find. The only spot I could get behind using Davis on the big club would be as a long reliever to eat innings in a blowout or injury situation.

Perhaps only if we're way down in 4th place in the Central and he is a late season call-up to save innings on our guys.

Just look at the list of veterans who joined the Sox organization during the 2005 championship season, but didn't make it to Chicago: Tony Alvarez, Roosevelt Brown, Jim Bullinger, Trace Coquilllette, Brad Fullmer, Jeremy Giambi, Wilton Guerrero, Ricky Gutierrez, Bobby Jones, Felix Martinez, Greg Norton, and Robert Person. Even Bullinger, who last pitched in the majors 7 years earlier, had people freaking out because they thought he was part of KW's master plan for the first place Sox.

Signings like this happen every year. I like having people with MLB experience as Sox pennant race injury contingency plans. For a minor league team like the Knights, even a Doug Davis might draw a few more fans and help the team advance to the post-season. It probably won't hurt the youngsters to have a teammate who lasted 13 years in the majors, had some good years, overcame cancer, and pitched in the playoffs.

Is this a joke? Most teams have former minor leaguers who don't cut it anymore.
