Just reported on MLBN, K-Rod to the Brewers for cash considerations and two players to be named later.

Interesting, who's going to close for the Mets? Does K-Rod close in Milwaukee or do they stick with Axford?

Strange. I haven't been following the Brewers very much, but don't they have one of the best closers in the league in Axford?

He oft wild and erratic and blows a decent amount of games each year. Can't have too many arms in the bullpen in my opinion.

He sets up. The whole point of the deal is that K-Rod has a $17.5M option that vests with 55 games finished, and trading him was the only way the Mets were going to get out of that. There's only one closer in the game worth that much money IMO, and his name is Mariano.

Wow, the Crew just became decidedly less likeable. I may have to root for the Pirates now.

I wouldn't go that far. he's blown 2 saves this year(both early, i believe he has 22 straight saves), and blew three saves last year. This move is simply to shore up the setup role. With K-rod/Hawkins and Saito, the brewers no longer have to use Kamron Loe in the 7th/8th spot. Brewers didn't give up anything of worth, and the Mets are off the hook for the 17.5 million they would owe him next year.

Why do so many players have names these days that sound like car parts?

Because Americans can't take the time to write out full names anymore DJ.

Good move by the Brew Crew. They're not counting on Fielder resigning, so this is their year to make a run. You can never have too many arms in the bullpen.

Yes, athletes never had nicknames before 2000.

I actually live 1 mile closer to Miller Park than The Cell- I think I have found the antidote for the 2011 White Sox.

Speaking of Isringhausen and car parts, there used to be an Isringausen car dealership in Springfield, as Jason is from central Illinois I always assumed it was his families dealership, but was never sure. Anyone know?

The Mets are getting a couple of legit prospects for him (just not one of their top 5).

It's going to be two PTBNL, i doubt it will be any of the brewers top 5 prospects(which isn't saying much anyways, as the brewers farm system is a bit bare)

There was a joke? Not a particularly funny one, but yes. He addressed the poster as "DJ" in his sentence. At least I figured he was making a joke.:dunno:

It's not top 5, , but the ones below that. I don't know about their system, but there are usually good prospects in the non-top 5 list. It gives us some idea of the minimum we should get for Jackson.

They also have Carlos Gomez on the roster too. What a tag team of on-field douchebaggery they can make.
