AJ has stated that he wishes he could play 162 games. He hates sitting on the bench any time. I wonder if he gets even more playing time.

I certainly hope not. We have a young player called up, let's see what he can do. Give AJ more rest - probably could use it anyway.

How has Flowers been doing at AAA this year? I know he seemed to take a huge step backward last year.

During Spring Training this year, I read a couple articles praising the great strides he has made defensively. The Sox brass were very happy with his progress in that department but were disappointed with his offense last year. I guess we'll find out soon enough. Nice to see he has rebounded this year. Castro was a valuable piece for us and a dangerous bat in the lineup when he played. Here is hoping Flowers can fill in and provide some pop when he plays.

Yes,this stinks,as Ramon always seemed to get at least one solid hit every game he played, and had more pop than AJ. Also good behind the plate.
But, on the bright side, Flowers gets an audition, and eventually,he might be Ramon's replacement. Time to show us something,Tyler!

The injury is unfortunate considering Castro was one of the few position players doing his job (though he has himself to blame for the injury).

Pierzynski is amazingly durable behind the plate, especially when you consider how big he is. That said, he is getting older so, if anything, I think he could use a little more rest than he's had in past seasons. Unless Flowers appears to be a liability, I'd like to see him in the lineup as much as Castro was.
