Sad to see it end this way for a member of the '05 team.

I hope it is just something that can easily be taken care of like bone spurs. I always felt big Jon was underappreciated here for 2 reasons:

1. With the hype that surrounded him people wanted him to be good right away (especially in the 2000 pennant race) and didn't fathom tht he was pirching in the bigs at 19 years of age.

2. People dind't think he was trying hard because of his California cool demeanor. He just wasn't grindy enough like some of the other cult heroes.

I'd like to see him pitch again. Here's to a speedy recovery.

I will always remember the 2005 regular season and his start against the Halos on 13 days of rest.Get better,Jon.

Doesn't sound good. He's was an inning-eating horse in 2005 and the productivity we got from him and the 5th starter position was a key to the championship.

Hopefully he makes a comeback. If the Dodgers decline his option in 2012, perhaps "Coop can fix him!"

I also think people wanted him to be a bonafide ACE of the staff. There are certain Sox fans would love to have that to rub in the Cubs fan faces. As it was, the deal that brought us Garland was a big winner for the Sox.

Hope he recovers. He deserves a better way to go out.
