I can't find a picture but I do recall a team endorsed Dye/Rowand alliance back in 08 or 09.

True....but an entire team slate?

odd I've never seen much less heard of that before. An alliance? Seriously? What doofus thought of that?

Somebody at MLB approved it

I could almost understand Boston and Philly but San Francisco?

It doesn't really make any sense to try and establish a rivalry between two teams that are playing at different ends of the country. Some pencil pusher at the commish's league office thought it would be a really good idea. NOT!!!! Makes no sense.

It's not a rivalry, but some kind of dumb marketing plan to make the fan bases vote for one another's players.

It makes as much sense as trying to get Sox fans vote Houston Astros into the All-Star Game, and vice-versa. Why does one care about the other?

Reds and Blue Jays have a Votto/Bautista alliance going on this year.

I would join an "Anyone but the Yankees or Red Sox" alliance.

I wondered the same thing. I saw this when I went to a Giants game in May, and I saw it when I saw a Red Sox game on the MLB channel. It seems odd, especially considering that with Posey going down, there really is no one on the Giants worth the trouble to vote for.

Great! Let's get this going! :D:

Fans have been doing this online for YEARS. I believe that in 2005, WSI organized an alliance with the Phillies to get Scotty Pods into the ASG. It was only a matter of time before a tech-savy marketing department realized this was going on and decided to capture it.

Wasn't something like this done last year with the White Sox and Reds, for Konerko and Votto ?

Okay that was the part that was confusing me. As you said It's still a dumb marketing plan. The last thing that I would do is try to vote another teams player into the All-Star game.

Didn't Cincy do this back in the 50's and got nearly all 9 starters? And I thought MLB did something to prevent it from happening again... at least not allowing teams to push such a thing.

Those that have mentioned it's been done before, I'm pretty sure it's only been done for the final fan vote not the regular All Star balloting.

...so we're no longer voting for players but for teams/alliance?!

I can't find the link, but it has been mentioned on Cincinnati airwaves several times this season that the Reds and Blue Jays are teaming up to vote for Votto and Bautista, since Votto is from Toronto.

Bulls and Knicks fans had a temporary alliance on the realgm boards to get D. Rose and Amare in as starters over Rondo and KG.

As if the fan voting hadn't already become a joke, we have this.

Good thing this is an exhibition game and doesn't mean anything. Oh wait...

Right, I remember the Rockies' Carlos Gonzalez was coupled with the one Sox player on the last man ballot last year.

The fan voting is already a joke, so this can't really make it any worse.

Pretty sure it wasn't an alliance between two teams…they just stuffed the hell out of the ballot box.
