How good has our starting pitching been this season. Through last nights game against Oakland they have 39 quality starts (6+ innings, 3 or less runs).

If the Sox had only won just those games when the pitcher got a 'quality start" they would be 39-27 right now. That would be just a game behind Boston for best record in the AL and good enough for a 3.5 game lead in the division over Cleveland and Detroit.

If the Sox had only won just those games when the pitcher got a 'quality start" they would be winning based on some bull**** statistic and not on wins. That would be just a bull**** game behind Boston for best bull**** record in the AL and good enough for a bull**** QS-based 3.5 game lead in the bull**** division over bull**** Cleveland and bull****Detroit.

This was pretty unnecessary, in fact totally unnecessary...

Almost as unnecessary as a question mark. What's the question again? Should I be posting about how mediocre/above-mediocre this pitching staff has been instead?

Billy:

With respect IF is the biggest little word in the world.

IF the Sox would realize the season starts in early April and not mid-May, well they'd be in a hell of a lot better shape.

And again with respect I think Gavin is (was) still fuming over what happened Friday night.

Here's another stat that makes you shake your head. The Sox have lost seven games this year where they held the opponent to three runs or less.
