Delcarmen was a quality reliever a few years ago with Boston. I know KW had interest in him in the past. Could be a nice Cooper project. It's not like we have a ton of right handed relief depth.

KW had interest in him in the past.Well, that's reason enough to sign him.

Wasn't he a centerpiece for a rumored Buehrle deal with the Red Sox a few years back?

I thought it was Ellsbury actually.

That was Delcarmen and Willy Mo Pena for Dye. Thank goodness that didn't go through.
As far as I know MB wasn't actually on the block and he signed his extension on July 8th.
Can't hurt to take a flyer on this guy, he always impressed me when he was with Boston.
Somebody will sign him. As messed up as so many bullpens are, I don't see someone not signing him.

Speaking of Pena, after a short trip to an independent league last year, he's back in AAA for the D'Backs, and putting up some pretty crazy numbers so far (http://www.baseball-reference.com/minors/player.cgi?id=pena--002wil). .352 with 17 homers and 49 RBI in 47 games this year. Yikes!

I though Buccholz's name was tossed around, too.
I always liked DelCarmen when he was in Boston. Same with Bruney when he was a Yankee. Nothing wrong with having some experienced bullpen arms in AAA in case someone gets hurt.

Looks like Manny DelCarmen was signed by the Rangers, per Rotoworld.

Well, so much for that idea. Perhaps they think Mike Maddux will fix him.
