That Jake Peavy shutout could very well be what this team needed to turn this crapfest around.

Offense certainly woke the **** up tonight.

I'm still amazed that these same Indians are in first place. With or without a resurgent Travis Hafner, I just don't get it.

Woo Woo!!! Big 2 games that the White Sox needed to win and we took care of business.

Time to take it to LA.

Way to go, 2 big wins against the Tribe.
I noticed in the box score that PK was taken out, is he hurt or did Ozzie just want to give him a little rest?

Considering we were 11-22 less than two weeks ago, 20-25 looks pretty good right now. That's 9 wins in the last 12, and finally some wins at home.

Great job by both Gavin and the O tonight.

Keep it rolling.

My post from last night's postgame thread:

Will the Sox sweep the two-game series?

All signs point to "YES"!

What a fun game to watch! THIS is the White sox team that we've been waiting for since early April...Gavin pitched an outstanding game.

Sox get 20th win of the season tonite - keep it going boys! :bandance:

Not much to complain about tonight. You can't turn around a barge around in the Fox River, unless the river gets wide enough...and maybe the river just got wide enough. I think this team can turn it around...keep it going boys!

My son was born three years ago tomorrow. I distinctly remember the Sox were in the middle of a hot streak after having started the season in a coma, due in large part to some frigid bats. I hope they are in the middle of a long hot streak now.

You could be right. Maybe there was something about the Peavy performance that finally woke this team up. I think baseball is hugely psychological and this could have been what the team needed. I will feel really good when the team gets to .500. But for now, they look like a major league team and I'll take it.

No one else wants the division yet.

Maybe we can get rolling here.

I posted on my facebook page recently I will wear White Sox shirts everyday to see if they play better.

They are now 9-3 with the shirts. The shirts get all the credit!!

We're 5 games under .500 and 4-1 against the first place team in our division. Peavy had a huge game last night and might be the emotional kick in the butt this team needed!

It's not even June yet. They had their hot streak, now they will cool off. Happens every year to some team. It's the opposite for the Sox. They will be near 1st by the all-star break.

May pitching is 48 runs in 17 games ... opposition averaging 2.82 runs a game. That's all runs, not just earned.

...

It's not like the Sox went 6-2 in the last eight games of the West Coast roadtrip before winning three of the first four games against first-place (or nearly first place) teams at home.

Of course, beating Carmona with a bunch of runs early is where this season began, with appreciably more optimism than today. There still was some pessimism after those first two win because it was "only the Indians." That seems like a long time ago. Carmona didn't pitch nearly as badly tonight as he did in the opener. It looks like he lowered his season ERA against the Sox from 30 to a little over 20. But his ERA against the rest of the American League is about 2.56.

It's good to see another Sox starter pitching well deep into the game, and it's good to see Floyd bounce back over a tough start in Oakland. For almost two weeks, since the Humber start in Seattle against Hernandez, the Sox haven't lost a strong start, and they've been getting a lot of strong starts.

Tonight's game wasn't a win due to an uncharacteristic offensive outburst, something losing teams get over the course of a season. It was another in a string of well-pitched games but with a wider-than usual margin. For almost two weeks, the White Sox have been winning their pitching duels. But it's nice not to sweep a two-game series without getting seriously into the bullpen.

Juan Uribe and the Dodgers come to town this weekend after the Dodgers lost two tough games to the other team that put a diamond-studded ring on Uribe's hand. Uribe got quite an ovation when he returned to San Francisco in the hated Dodger blue.

I just think it's a little more meaningful since it was a series win at home against a division rival. To have Peavy come out and just shut them down when Masterson gave them a great performance was just a huge boost.

He should get one here, too. I would think so, anyway.

Also, I don't like playing against teams after a string of tough losses, even if the White Sox traditionally eat the NL for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I'm suddenly not so confident about this series. >_>

Unfortunately, no. Boston's won 6 straight.

And if the standings wouldn't have told you that, I'm pretty sure ESPN etc. have been beating that story to death by now.

I always liked Juan Uribe and was sorry to see him go. He should get huge cheers right up to when he steps into the batter's box. Then he needs to swing wildly at bad pitches like I know he can do.

Still a ton of work to do. We've still got the 4th or 5th worst records in the AL. Thank God it's a long season.

Glad to see the bats wake up.

Need to get Johnny Danks rolling with his next start!

Juan opened both games vs the Tribe with a double, and then scored the first run(only run on Wed.),to ignite the Sox. Juan is important to this offense, and it is good to see him contributing again. We sink or swim with him,and I wish the media would get off his arse. He needs a boost of confidence and the last two games might get him on track, but the media will hammer him for another month anyway.

Game 1 against Lilly will be the toughest of the 3 games. Sox usually don't hit soft tossing lefties very well.
