This takes you back to the late 80s when either Baines or Fisk would get placed on the team when you know the Sox didn't really deserve to even have anybody there.

Konerko, unless Quentin's numbers are good enough to earn a spot.

Billy Martin was right when he said publicly and often that not every team should have an All-Star.

Konerko definitely deserves it, and so far looks like Sergio will as well.

****, Humber probably should get a look based on what he's done lately.

The White Sox should do a vote a fan in to the all star game promotion, because we have been consistent enough in giving a **** and paying attention that we deserve to play. We might hit the ball too, or bunt it.

Reminds me of the Royals SP a few years ago [can't remember who] that made the ASG while having an ERA over 5.00.

Thanks.

I voted for TCQ in this poll. It could certainly be Konerko, as well.

But does it really matter?

Humber deserves it.

Likely will depend on whether or not a lot of 1B or OF are having crazy good years.

Too soon to call.

I agree that it is too early to call right now but if it was based on performance through May 7th, I'd say Konerko, Quentin, or Floyd.

Right, but throw Ozzie in there too.

Santos and Konerko

still have a chance:

Quentin

Floyd..quietly putting up nice numbers 49innings in 7 starts 44Ks, 3.67 ERA, 1.06WHIP and .223 BAA. And Floyd usually struggles in the beginning of the season. He just has to keep up the good work.

I'd be embarrassed as a Sox fan if Santos goes.... you know you're a horrible team if your best player is your closer.

Why have an All Star game at all if only the popular/good teams can participate?

Do we really need more Yankees or Red Sox players?

We resent that. We always deserved it.

If he keeps this up, KING KONKerko will definitely be deserving.

.323 BA, 8HR, 27rbis Nonetheless, it wouldn't hurt if he got a triple.

Mariano Rivera is arguably the Yankees best player...

I agree, russ: Why have an All Star game in the first place?

IMO, the ASG is a complete and utter waste of time, a stupid popularity contest, another day to tune out ESPN, and an additional burden on my team's better players. It is a relic from the time when most Americans couldn't watch all the best players from both leagues.

Nowadays, through the wonder of television and the internet, each and every baseball fan can get to see ALL the best players if they want to do so. We don't need to waste a day watching the players out to recreate, and even worse, risk injury on a "game" that means less than nothing.

Some traditions need to die a quick and painless death. The All Star Game is one of them, IMO.
