who was the main mastermind behind the 93 and 94 teams that killed almost all the competition? i wish we could build up this team like we had it back then. it looked like we would be up there for the next 10 years instead of cleveland.

The core of the 1993/94 team put together in four consecutive #1 draft picks:

1987--Jack McDowell
1988--Robin Ventura
1989--Frank Thomas
1990--Alex Fernandez

So naturally Reinsdorf fires Himes at the conclusion of the 1990 season.

Is there any doubt why the White Sox will NEVER win a world championship?

"Yes, but I retired Harold Baines' number back in '89, so cut me some slack."

"And you dumped me again in 1997, you jerk!"

"Let's not even mention what the two of you did to us in 2001."

We also got TOP prospects when we dumped Floyd Bannister and harold Baines, including Melido Perez, who was an important pitcher for us at the beginning of the resurgence. Also, for what it's worth, Sosa and Wilson Alvarez (both for Baines, I think).

While the markets are different, compare that with what kenny williams scoops for veteran pitchers that he wants to dump.

Yeah, it's mainly Himes... although I don't know about *killing* the competition - that team really underachieved in '91 and '92, they had a lackluster performance in '93 play-offs, and then were only *one* game ahead of Cleveland when the strike hit in '94. People always say we were going to the World Series that year, I don't even think we were going to win the Division. But who cares now, eh?
