Liriano did not have good stuff tonight. He struck out only two and walked six.

Two many Sox hitters swinging early in the count. Liriano would have hung himself with walks if the Sox had allowed him to.

Instead, they were eager to give away outs so they could get back in the dugout and warm their tootsies. It's a disgrace to baseball. Someone needs to be fired.

If this were a team full of players like Beckham and Morel your logic would make since, your logic doesn't make since at this point. This team is full of veterans being paid millions, if they need a coach to tell them how to hit instead of finding holes in their swings they should not be in the majors. One quality start all season
9+ era coming in
6 walks issued
Never pitched a complete game in entire career (not just mlb)
Add those up and you get a Whitesox team that gets no hit. Hell Johan never even came close, that speaks volumes about how terrible this team is.

Just cluless with approaches to hitting. Clueless. We can all sit here and bitch about changes being made, hitting coaches being fired. If it hasn't happened yet, it won't. We are stuck with this grotesque payroll, ****ty minor league system, with a team that seems to have zero fight.

Let's see how they handle this. Will there be the same hanging the head sulking act? Or will it light some kind of proverbial fire (finally)?

Agreed but if we are gonna fire someone it can not just be walker, as long as Ozzie is our manager this trend will continue every year. He needs to go as well not just walker.

Agreed, part of the problem is that Ozzie doesn't know how to manage in certain situations and his act is getting old. I understand that hitters that get paid $10 million a year should be able to hit but no way they will be able to unload those contracts so someone has to go.

Since somebody has to pretend to put an optimistic spin on this latest disaster...

A no-hit game with six walks is no different than a no-walk game with six singles.

The Sox hit into a triple play on 4/3 and were no hit on 5/3. The last team to fall victim to both in a single season were the 1997 San Francisco Giants, who hit into a triple play on 5/10 and were no-hit on 6/10. They finished the year with 90 wins. Maybe the Sox will win 90 as well!

Let's talk game strategy for a moment:

a) Why is Morel (with zero walks this season) allowed to lead off the bottom of the 9th against a pitcher with control issues when Vizquel is available on the bench?

b) Why is Dunn (who is currently hitting .171) allowed to bat THIRD in the lineup against a tough LEFTY he has never ever faced before?!

c) Why did we pitch to the ONE guy in the Twins lineup who is hitting and the ONE guy who ALWAYS kills us?

ARGHHH!!! This is as low as I've felt as a Sox fan since 2007.

Why not do something different?

Older Sox fans, when was the last time you were this frustrated with a White Sox team? Never. From 68-70 you just knew they were bad and barely hanging on. In the mostly lean years of the 70's Harry and later teamed up with Jimmy made it interesting. The late 80's were pretty bleak too. This however takes the cake for me.

Excellent post. It was one of the most underwhelming no hitters I've ever seen. Liriano was way more dominant against us in a start at Target Field last year. He was all over the place with his control tonight and Sox hitters were all to eager to help him out by swinging at pitches way out of the zone. I think a Hickory Crawdads pitcher can no hit this team right now.

If somebody's head doesn't roll because of this BS tonight, its going to be difficult for me to spend another minute watching this White Sox team. Rios and Beckham need to be sent down to AAA to get it back together at the plate, and get away from the virus that is Greg Walker.

This is how I feel. I'm officially on board for firing Ozzie. I'm sick and tired of defending him. Someone needs to take responsibility and it might as well be him. Once he's gone, move some players for anything. Kiss Danks goodbye, because the Sox already stand an outside shot at signing him anyways. They might as well get something for him now. Beckham needs to go to Charlotte, as does Morel. They looks lost at the plate. Call up the bums they have down there, like McPherson and let him play out the rest of the season. There is no optimism left.

I started following The Sox in '74, and honestly maybe only 1995 and 2002 come close to this fiasco.

I'm sure some will say 2001, but we were losing a player a week to the DL it seemed that year, so I understood why we sucked. The 87-89 teams were rebuilding so they don't count.

You guys think this season will turn out the same, or what?!?

That was only a censored version, if I said what I really thought I would get banned for months.

Yeah, my real reaction to all this was an undecipherable text to manders_01. And my neighbors who probably overheard my string of expletives.

Between one of the innings my son asked me to plunge his toilet. In hindsight that was much more fun than watching the Sox.

Plunge a man's toilet he can crap for a day, teach a man how to plunge his toilet he can crap for life.

Anderson was a slightly below average hitter at best and so was Griffey at that point in his career. The difference is Griffey was proven and had postseason experience. Don't even get me started on Swisher. I'm glad he took his strikeouts and bad attitude elsewhere.

I still don't see how any of that explains trading for a glorified bench player, then having him play one of the most important defensive positions on the field when it's been obvious to everyone except Ozzie Guillen for years that he can't do it anymore. Swisher was clearly the better option for CF (and the lineup, for that matter).

For the first half. Then he dropped off big time. Also consider this: Swisher doesn't complete that throw to home plate in the Blackout Game (happier times).

Yes, because Swisher and Anderson were sooooooooooooo much better options.

Don't start with that crap. KW had his ass handed to him in both trades for Swisher.

How is this at all related to the Sox, aside from your obvious, glaring hatred of all things Jerry Reinsdorf?

Gee the last time I looked he owned the team.
And until you silly white sox fans start making him accountable for the slop you see on the field, then shut the hell up complaining about it

Yes, and when team with NO talent play hard and overachieve, the Manager win manager of the year.

So, when a team with our "talent" underachieves and dosent appear to play hard, he should be FIRED

Seeing the White Sox biggest rival throw a no-hitter against them. No reason to be upset in my book.

Hold him accountable?

OK, his teams have won 7 titles in Chicago the last 20 years. The other 4 teams have combined to win one.

And he's directly accountable for the GM's moves and the manager sucking?

140 ****ing million dollar payroll, it ain't JR's fault unless. But some just have always had an agenda against him, calling cheap or whatever other nonsense, that I've never been able to understand.

Reinsdorf has too much $$ sunk into this team's payroll, someone has to be fired. In the meantime, the embarrassment has gotten to the point where I'm putting all of my Sox gear back in storage. Wake me when all this **** is over.

The proper way to do it IMO, is wait a few days (don't give the Twins the satisfaction). First fir KW and bring in a new GM, who will fire Ozzie, etc right away and bring in his/her own people.

or

Just fire Ozzie and Cora and Walker now!! and put KW on notice to clean house or get out too.

Somebody's head has to roll. Starting with the players, going all the way to KW. Something has to change or the Sox will stay the worst team in the league for the rest of the year.

rest of the year? I am more concerned about this team being the worst team in the league for years to come.
