The Return of Nick Punto, perhaps?

Well, whoever they bring up will hit .320. So, whatever.

I think they will promote Luke Hughes who is not all that inspiring.

He's in St. Louis.

He's in St. Louis.

Ah, so he will be inexplicably terrorizing NL Central teams this year.

Nah, the Sox don't play in the NL Central. He'll suck.

Eerily enough, this morning I was thinking about recent failed Japanese imports. The thought popped into my head "The guy the Twins paid for will fail, but he will mercifully get injured and whoever they call up will hit .350." So, I guess, bring on the nondescript middle infielder to have the season of his life.

I seem to remember Iguchi being bad at getting out of the way because they don't slide that hard into second in Japan. I wonder if that was the case here. Tough loss for the Twins.

Tough break for the Twinkies. They actually don't have the depth they've had in the past. Tolbert or Plouffe will probably see the majority of time at 2B/SS, neither of which are very good.

As Dirty mentioned, Hughes isn't exactly inspiring either.

Punto suffered a sports hernia early in spring training that required surgery, they said he'd be out six to eight weeks.

I just happened to catch this play watching the free video look-in provided by Gameday, and that's what it looked like. Swisher definitely was looking to make contact and it almost appeared like there was a little kick in his slide, but Nishioka didn't really do a great job of avoiding it either.

That's really unfortunate for the Twins and Nishioka. However, he really didn't look that impressive in the first couple of games. Not sure that this will necessarily hurt Minnesota. They always find somebody.

Didn't Iguchi have trouble getting out of the way of the baserunner early on?

There's video of it in this article:

Man Swisher hit him HARD on that play.

It's a shame. He had plenty of time to get out of the way and still get Texeira at first. Swisher just did what he was supposed to do in that situation.

If AJ had done it the villagers would be after him with torches and pitchforks. It was borderline -- not dirty but not entirely clean either. Swisher kinds kicked out, didn't he?

Not only true but he hardly plays. They have "The Riot" throwing balls everywhere but to Pujols. Freese at 3rd. and Schumaker at 2nd... I believe.
