mlb.tv billing?

If I chose monthly over just paying for a yearly subscription would I end up paying more at the end of the season for the package than I would have if I just paid the yearly up front? Also if I went monthly would they continue to charge me though the offseason or is that just an internet rumor based off of confusion?

I got it monthly last year starting in June when the Sox got hot, and I do recall them billing me in October again too even though in previous years they hadn't done so when the regular season ended. I called and after some time on the phone they cancelled the service and refunded me a prorated amount for the month.
