Mets are picking up the rest of his salary. Sox sign him to a minor league deal and see what happens? With what is going on with Peavy, a potential insurance policy?

Just a thought, everyone can go ahead and start ripping on me....now.:redneck

I think the Sox should sign every player who gets released.

In 2004, he won twelve games for Pittsburgh. He must have some sort of talent.

He's lost about 10 mph off his fastball and still can't throw a strike.

Well if he lost that much on his fastball screw it. I figured maybe if he tweeked something he might be able to gain some control.

Carry on, nothing to see here.

Throwing strikes has always been an issue with Perez. Always.

Motivation and mind set has been too.

If he had just SOME of the stuff he had when he came up with SD, maybe, but who needs a homer-prone walk machine who flings the ball in at about 83-84 MPH like he has been?

Not too many teams, especially ones like NYM that are starving for starting pitching, cut loose a serviceable LHP or a player making over $12 million unless he has lost it.

And I doubt Coop will be able to help him find it. Humber may have found his stuff with us. Give him the shot if Peavy misses time, not some over-paid headcase.

<cough> Peavy <cough>

Edit: Since I don't very post much, just wanted to say I do understand the difference between Peavy and Perez. Just tried to go absurd in the other direction. Perez could really help if signed to a cheap contract.

Hmm...absorbing twelve million dollars so you can fill the roster spot with a more valuable minimum salary player, thus getting better production for virtually the same price.

What a concept!

He seemed like a Kenny guy. High k/BB ratio until a couple years ago. I've always been intrigued by guys like this.

I thought about it, but decided to start the Luis Castillo thread instead.

The Yankees' pitching coach must think he is Don Cooper with all of the disaster projects they picked up on this season. They are so bad that I don't think Coop could even fix half of them.

I believe it to be the exCub PC, Larry Rothchild.
